Default Help with vocals please

I think this topic might have been done before, but I can't find anything about it on the site, so please bear with me and help as much as possible.

Right, what's the best/most effective way of taking a vocal track, complete with a beat and everything else, and removing as much of the beat as possible in order to leave a kind of accapella?

I don't know if this makes much sense, or if it is possible to actually do this on your PC.

If you think you might know of a way to do this, please let me know.

Thanks very much...

If I had a penny for each time...................

It is not possible exccept in very unusual circumstances like in old records where vocals may have been panned hard to one side on their own.

You can reduce other thing to a certain extent but never remove them and the more you do this the more you mangle the vocal.

what about the inverting phase trick? it seems to work for me but only at certain parts coz the tracks never seem to be the same speed.
