Default HELP WITH RECORDING

I WANT TO RECORD SOMETHING TO MP3.
I GOT MY MDPLAYER GOIN THROUGH MY SOUNDCARD AND ITS COMING OUT MY SPEAKERS FINE!
IVE GOT SOUNDFORGE WHICH HAS WORKED FINE FOR ME BEFORE
AND ALL MY VOLUME LEVELS ARE UP.
BUT ITS NOT RECORDING
I CANT FINK WHAT IT COULD BE.
IVE ALSO TRYED SOME OTHER RECORDING THING FROM DOWNLOAD.COM AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
ITS PROBABLY REALLY SIMPLE!

Hey Joe, if you look in your Volume Control Panel (where you say you've set all the levels), look for one that says either recording, or has an ear, or has a red dot. Then see if you can select source. Cos you can sometimes set it to record from different places, e.g. from the mic, or CD or whatever, and if it ain't set on the right one it won't record obviously.
