bulb help, recording at home

Hi everybody,
we´re just starting in the music business and we need some tips.
we´re recording at the house and producing with cubasis. we´ve bought a good mike but there´s always a bit of noise in the vocals.
Is there any way we can fix that???
any tricks will be welcome

check us out at myspace

Hey! What kinda noise is it?? Popping? Hissing? If its a good condenser mic, you will need a decent shielded, studio grade mic lead, a pop shield and some sound deadening for the room you are recording in..that would be decent place to start. You can buy acoustic treatment panels from eBay easily - be careful as some people charge alot more for the same product as someone else..just look around. Also - alot depends on the quality of the soundcard/mic interface you are using - if you are going into a mini mixing desk before going into the computer they can add alot of noise - and things like too many earth's going into extension leads add hum/hiss. Try and seperate the plugs as much as possible.

Regards - Owen

If you need anything mixing/mastering for free - give us a shout. Check out the 3 day demo I recorded for sanguine www.myspace.com/sanguineband - or email for a cd of my work (it aint band)

p.s. I dont like much indie - but I like you guys, good songwriting. Wouldn't sound out of place on Radio1

Blimey thanks very much for the advice, it's very very useful and very much appreciated. we're quite impoverished unsuprisingly so we have to make do a lot of the time but we'll try and do everything you say. and thanks very much for the offer to help with mixing etc. we might well take you up on it at some point! Checking out Sanguine now so we'll come back to you in a bit.

Warm regards from Madrid.

Hey Owen, just a quick note to say congratulations on your stuff with Sanguine, it's bloody impressive. We're not really metal fans either but we were very very impressed all the same. Send us an email to info@mechansimo.co.uk and we'll keep in touch.
