Default Help On Starting Up

Right, me and a friend have been producing for a while now (him longer than me) and we have been using Reason. We both have mustered up some cash and was wonderin if any of you could recommend what to buy, we are both serious about this so if the recommendations you make could either be upgradeable or pretty high end gear.

I dont wanna put a price range as its very flexible but if u can tell me wot sort of prices i will b paying too it would b helpful.

right:

midi controller: evolution MK125 - 49.99
midi interface: midi sport 2x2 - 54.99
sampler: Akai MPC 2000XL - 599.99
Mic: Shure SM58 - 70.00
and a few sample cd's around 50.00 each

if u cant get da sampler just get the rest.. that should do 4 now.
(and if ur wondering y i aint used pound signs, the pound sign on my keyboard gives a # 4 sum reason.??

You don't need a sampler. Use Sound Forge with a good enough Soundcard for recording (budget one = Audiophile 2496 = http://www.midiman.net/products/m-audio/audiophile.php)

You need a midi keyboard if your serious (saves punching out notes with mouse which gets frustrating after a while and also means you can use VST plugins in real time - with a good enuff computer spec. of course).

VST plugins - all depends on what you want to make.

What sequencer are you going to use? The one in Reason? Or hook it up to Cubase SX? Maybe looking at Logic?

www.computermusic.co.uk is a good website to read reviews. Im sure you know by know the basic equipment you need, computer, software, soundcard, midi controller keyboard. Basically now its down to budget and preference...

For serious audio work, I'd recommend a Mac Dual Processor g4 867 Mhz computer (about £1400).

Well i bought most of it all together so i got quite a bit knocked of a price that was pretty low anyway. ive seen the 22" for about £1300 even though apple try to sell them for about 2000

And yeah lucky indeed on the mixer i dont think he realised what he was selling but people like that will do anything for money
