Default Help making music

Hi Guys. Just wanting some advice. Have just brought myself a macbook pro and wanted to learn hot to make some music. Want to learn how to do some dance tracks. What is the best software out there that can help me achieve this? Want to be able to get samples from songs and put into my own tracks etc. Have heard about propellarheads......would this be any good for what I want to do or is there somthing better out there.

Hope you can advise

Cheers guys
