The LE systems (Toolbox, 001, MBox) use plug-ins just like the TDM systems - fully automated and "save-able". Only a few plug-ins are TDM-(and not HTDM) only. (off the top of my head Virus, Pitch Doctor, TC Electronics), and rumor has it that the TDM versions sound better, but I don't notice. It's a very nice thing to be able to take a CDRom from home to the studio and have the exact same session up in about 5 minutes from powering up the room - but if you're not using more than one system THIS doesn't matter...

From what I've been told, DON'T by emagic's box.

Oh,

and on my home system:

G4 500mHz
512 MB RAM
Cheetah 10,000 RPM hard drive
digidesign Audiomedia III card (I don't think they make these anymore)

I get about as many plug-ins as a MIX card.

One nice thing about the Digidesign LE systems is that you can do the reverse of what Bionic is saying as well - spend time making things on your home system and then bringing them to the "real" studio for a proper mix down on a full ProTools rig...if you're into that kind of thing

What Sen said is what I meant, but I also record most every acoustic instrument to a full blown ProTools system, then edit and move stuff around at the crib. I could mix at home if I had better monitors, though. I just have to do a little bouncing.
