i make tunes, and think "yeah, that sounds wicked"... next day, i play the tune to my mates... and there like "nah man... what the hell is that"... doh!

but i beleive i have made some good tunes... stuff that my mates like...

ive also had people emailin me askin for MP3's of my tunes, so they can cut their own dub!...

of course, i dont let em!..

I thibk that fluency is the key.

If you're easily moving through the production process and it is easy to keep adding things and progressing, then you are doing well.

If you reach a block, the chances are that you're not going to pass it. I finish about one in five tunes that I start and I'm never afraid to say that even though I've spent time working on this it's never going to be great so I wont bother.

same....do u ever get your hopes high when you've finished it and you really think it is a good tune and then show it to your friends or whatever and then they don't think it's that great....i get annoyed

pretty much echo JJ and Fat Zed

if you're in the flow and groove, it's all good. I don't notice time passing when I'm doing good work...when I'm roadblocked, I sit there for a while...then I start something new.

Sometimes I come back to the old thing, but most of the time I don't - I've already moved on/above/beyond where I was at that time.
