Default Does anyone know how...

...to produce a mash-up dubplate on a PC using Soundforge, or any other similar programs?

Or are there any other better ways of doing this?

A tune consisting of chunks of a selection of songs (say 10 or 20 secs from each) and then they are all mixed together to form the one "mashed-up" tune.

Hope this makes it more clear, I cant think of any other way of describing it. Sorry

Kind of I spose, but without the accapellas - just loads of tunes, whether they are vocal tunes or bassline/instrumental tunes

It sounds like the dj is mixing between lots of different tunes whilst only playing a very small part of each

My dj/producer partner does his using soundforge alone.

If I was gonna do one I would use logic, but his sound fine so i'd stick with soundforge.

a really good app for doing these sort of mash-ups is Sonic Foundry Vegas. I make my tunes with Logic but to be honest I find it a pain in the arse if i want to do this kind of thing. Vegas is good for this as you can alter pitch on each track real easily, and it's good for throwing big blocks of sound about, plus you've got all your dx plugs available, plus its well easy!

if you can find it, give it a shot.

Play a tune, record 4 or 8 bars of it in Sound Forge, beatmatch the tune on deck 2 then record 4 or 8 bars of that, copy and paste it after the first tune and layer a sample over the top so you can't hear the click between tunes.

Make sure they're beat matched. That's key.

Oh, and if you have something a little more sophisticated, you could do some fun sampling of just certain isolated vocals and what not and throw them in where they're not supposed to go....

Beat match them beforehand on my decks, and record that onto the PC?

How do you isolate certain vocals?

Do you mean use a vocal such as the 'Hey' of More Fire Crew's 'Oi!' ?

Yes and yes.

Youcan beatmatch on the PC, but it's more fidgity.

And yeah, so if you can get a clean sample of the HEY or BABY from All I do (that's been rinsed) then you can drop them on top of different loops.

But you cant take, say, a full line out of a song and remove the beats from behind the lyrics? I think I saw a topic about this the other day.

filters that costs more then more can do such a processing job but it's not really worth it.....

I tell ya if you need to beat match on you comp get acid pro...

you get get the demo off there syght

or just make you own beats and stop trying to cop a feel on others grooves unless you make bounce off it with props.
