| If you think Cubase is hard, don't touch logic. |

| You can download cubase tutorials somewhere.
I'm not sure about logic being harder, I know some people think it's easier to use.
You're pretty much right though.........wait till you try common lisp audioscripting, csound and msp, ooh.........tricky. |

| Dan, I don't even go there...couldn't get my head around that when i was younger and more willing/eager to learn...now I'm old and codgety and set in my ways.
Heck, I don't even know if codgety is a word, but I'm old, and I'm gonna use it dag nab it!
As for people who think logic is easier, it's probably just the way some people thingk differently - like how some people who are geniuses at math can't seem to tie their shoelaces... |

| DJ Mistic Ad I don't think cubase is too bad if you first concentrate on getting everything setup as a template - it might take AGES to work out if you haven't used it before but trust me when you start to make your music it's great when you don't have to stop every 10 seconds wondering how to do this or that.... with the template I basically mean getting your soundcard configured properly, any MIDI kit, or external sound sources like decks or keyboards, mics etc. setup. Then you can just concentrate on recording music, cutting audio up in cubase is easy as soon as you get the hang.
To start getting into VST's if you haven't already sorted it, go into VST Instruments in the Devices menu (try pressing F11 for a shortcut), load up the A1 synth, then in the main arrangement window, right click on the track menu and create a MIDI track, to the left you should see a box with IN and OUT on it, select OUT to be the A1, then along the top you'll see the tools, select the pencil and draw a box along the track you just created, select back to the arrow, double click on the box, and you (hopefully) should be able to play about with the A1 synth on the piano roll....oof was that a bit hectic!! :-)
I hope that makes sense, and I write it coz when I first started using Cakewalk years ago it took me AGES to work out how to get a sound out of it (though back then a soundblaster 16 was wicked and I would dream at night of Turtle Beach :-)
Although if you're not using any external kit, and you mainly work with samples, you could look at Ableton if you haven't already :-) it's so user friendly and comes with amazing set of tutorials....
