as far as I know you'd be lucky. Leftfield never released any pellas as far as I know.

Get yourself a bloody vocalist and a mic

I wasn't '$$$$$in' at all. Just raising an interesting quandry. Besides, my query was how to get the most professional and best result, you're not recording at all.

My point about recording your own vocals is this: If you use accapellas from other peoples music, the prime focal point in your music is not actually your own. In an art that is undeniably creative, you will inevitably make little progress in developing your skills if you always use the product of someone elses creativity.

You might be pleasantly suprised with your own ability if you try to create something of your own.

I'm nolt saying it's bad or wrong to make remixes of other peoples work, but if it's all that you do you wont get any other skills and will develop no creative abilities. If everyone made music this way there would be no music there to remix.

it's also a good arguement as to the stagnation in the scene. A lot of people just remix/use stock sounds/acapellas etc. It gets samey and doesn't push new levels. And it is sometimes responsible for the cheese factor.

Most producers cut their teeth on remixing a popular song, but trust me - it's so much more rewarding to write a song from start to finish - your words, your voice, your music.

I once told DJ Passion that I was into writing songs, not tunes, not disposable tracks. You'll find that a song lasts a lot longer than a track...takes much more effort too...

I could churn out beat after beat, bline after bline, and slap an accapella over them...I dunno if that'd make me happy tho.

If you are using acapellas, use them creatively...

listen to http://www.mountaincable.net/~slim/alloverme.rm (I think it's still there, let me know if it's not)

Check the vocals on that...that's from an acapella, but you'll never find a song where what the singer's singing is ever said...

Big up you Sen.

Remixing can be creative, it's like cover versions.

Remixing is best when used as a starting point to make your own tune. Lets face it, we all learn/copy from/plagerise other music in some way, that's the nature of music. The creative process is one of listening to other music then combining elements and taking your own stand on it to create something new.

There is no such thing as pure creativity in music as we always use aspects of something that came before. But music is best when it combines elements, rather than just lifting them off something else.
