Default computers and music????

computers:

your reccomendations on the best out there?
how much ram space do you have..?
info on soundcards etc and any other vital requirements?

always get ure pc custom build, never buy form people like TIME, TINY, COMET, DIXONS. I made that mistake once trust

Firewire MOTU 828 Audio card

As much RAM as you can (PC or Mac), SCSI if at all possible. Lots of hard drives on different busses.

I get as many tracks as possible by having drives on firewire, ATA and two SCSI 160 channels.

Don't get 15k rpm drives though, they're too loud for studio use. Get 10k.

If you're new to it all, then get PCs from specialists like Carillion or Digital Village and get Macs from......erm......Aple.

Oh, yeah, Zed's got a good point - high speed drives on at least 2 busses for asynchronous audio input.

SCSI is sweet, but expensive...my scsi buss is currently not seeing my sampler, so something's off...
