| makin beats the most important thing to remember is this:
The faster your hard drive the more tracks you can play at once
The faster your CPU+more ram the more FX and soft synths you can use.
No computer setup is gonna sound any good without a decent sound interface. All the cheap ones (Less than £300) end up being really glitchey and have poor sound quality.
A decent sound card has it's audio interface externally to stop buzzing ang humming. Digi 001, motu 2496, dsp factory, TC powercore are all good ones.
If you want something really pro, then you can get cards that do all the FX and mixing but it around £5000 for that sort of system.
As regards software, most people use logic, cubase, cakewalk, fruityloops, reason etc. Logic is probably the best. Stuff like fruity loops and reason are not very professional but ok if you just want to piss around.
Protools is the Daddy, that's what I use but it's not very good for beginners. |
