Default CUBASE\LOGIC\FRUITY\REASON\SONAR

What sequencer does everyone here use for producing their tunes, for me its all about Cubase not only because its so easy to get around, since Ive been using it for years, but now because its got the best soft sampler on the market in the form of Halion.

E-magics Logic just cant touch Cubase, for the simple fact Steinberg set trends and E-magic follow them.

Whats everyone else think?? whats your best sequencer and why??

Cubase has everything I need/took me a while to get the hang of all its little bits and pieces,no point in starting all over again..
played with reason which looks and sounds great but is a bit too insular for my liking,in fact funcionality wise Fruity is a better bet

Logic is way too complicated/although people say when you get the hang of it its a better tool(I dont mean just basic use)

Fruity is allways usefull, when you got a bit of writers block,f uck
around in fruity for a bit and chances are you will get yaself up and running..

Im suprised you havnt mentioned Acid Pro which has gotta be the best tool for Remixing there has ever been...

If you really want to break it down when it comes down to it, VSTi's run better in Cubase, logic jus doesnt handle virtual instruments aswell as Cubase and Logic doesnt have multiple outs, Logic is considered complicated, it may be a myth, but myths dont originate from nowhere. Rewire for Cubase, nuff said.

The only things Emagic have done better then steinberg is the hardware controller and I dont use one, so Im not bothered. Also Cubase loves to crash, but if you save your work every now and again that wont be a problem.

Also if you dont think Halion is the best Soft sampler, what is???

And Steinberg do set the trends and Emagic do just follow them and dont make me have to bring up examples

I havent used Acid Pro ever so I couldnt really put that in, Ive seen it being used but you cant really tell how good a program is just by watching.

yeah i know what you mean about fruityloops and writers block, fruity loops is is heavy for drums, I dont really use fruity for anything else.

I think reason is better then Fruity it just takes time to get use to the set-up, I think Reason is designed with people who worked with analogue hardware and all that in mind. Cuz wiring up equipment digitally just didnt do it for me but the results you get with reason can be heavy. Cant wait for the update

Ne ways, ive said enuff

When you link Cubase and Reason together (via Rewire) you've got a killer music application. They're so flexible.

vst instruments dont run well with logic this is how i know your talking out of your $$$$$ crease (im not gonna use any examples cos if u dont know im not gonna educate u!) before u make bold statements think about wot u r saying cos u will make yourself look foolish. halion is good yes but have u not used the exsp24 tight with logic built for logic and runs criss with logic is that something u can say about halion.

your sequencer does depend on wot your using (externally or internally).

its a known fact Cubase works better with Vsts then any other sequener for the simple fact Steinberg designed the format and they didnt make it easy for emagic to implement into their sequencer and that isnt an opinion that is a fact, so before you start trading insults defending your sequencer, check your facts

and about Halion being the best soft sampler, that is my opinion and Im sure theres millions of people out there who share the same one

Fat, what do you think of Nuendo?

BTW, Protools sequencer is pretty poor, really

But audio wise...pure bliss

Nuendo is ok, a bit in it's infancy though. It seems to have many of cubases problems though and it just hasn't got the following to make it a competitor to protools.

pro tools is way out of the reach and needs of most people

great if ya got a studio like yaself/but even then the only real

difference is the rock solid timing involved with tools and probably

the far superior quality of the plugins ..

But unless you got big time sponsorship from someone loaded

not nessecary really is it mate?

and as my mate down the road(who runs a very biz studio) says

in this league its more for the self indulgent

best o Luck

Nick

Default here we go again...

bet you guys this thread is gonna end up with a Pro Tools vs Nuendo, Cubase vs Logic, Fruity vs Reason, Kramer vs Kramer debate. LOL... people can be so passionate with their tools... use what you think is best for you, I know a guy who's churning out tunes with just an mpc and a jv! Anyway, I use Nuendo, Cubase VST32/5.1 and Reason.

DP is great, but I think the most versatile producers use anything. I teach students on logic, cubase, DP and protools. Having looked at all of them, 99% of what they do is the same, it's like the difference between having a chicken sandwich on brown, white, granary or a baguette; they're just presented in a different way. If you can use all of them, then you can get the most out of your talents, not out of the sequencer.

when you talk about them 99% being all the same, i take it that you are talking about front end graphical interface rather than the back end of the sequencers infrastructure.

Yeah I agree with Fat Zed, they all set out to let you produce a song with the utilities provided and each of the main sequencers enable you to that, they just go about it in different ways.

SO what about Sonar DJ Fat Zed what do you think of that???

not used it, I used cakewalk about four years ago, but I've not seen it since. I'm a mac user, and as far as I know you can't get it on the mac.

I think the best piece of music software to come out in ages is Celemony Melodyne. Have a go, it'll blow you away...........
