Well, if you get a matched set, sure!

(and remember, this is Canadian Dollars I'm talking about, so $1 = 50p)

the new Neumann 150s are listing at around $5300 USD, which is about $8500 Canadian (when you apply 15% taxes you're up to the $10000 mark)

Buy 2 of 'em and voila! $20000!

(I was exaggerating, of course - the idea was to put fear into the hearts of the young whippersnappers)

For recording vocals, you want a nice condenser mic - for reasonable ones, check AKG, Rode, CAD, Earthwerks, etc. etc.

The main issue for condensers is that you'll also need something to provide phantom power to the unit.

I'm no pro when it comes to recording vocals at all...have only been doing that for a year at most. I use a relatively cheap CAD microphone (the E100 - about $500) and a joemeek preamp to supply phantom power. It does the trick for me for now. Strictly on the project tip, seen?
