For what making tunes? (you didnt say)

Erm...

well theres FL Studio 4, good bit of software and easy to use.
Reason - Good as well, never really used it personally though.
Cubase - Practise on something else first before you step up to Cubase
Logic - same as cubase, you'll need quite a bit of knowledge to use this.

na you can use VST's and samples in it, and it has a piano roll feature so you dont even need a controller keyboard

fruity loops, rebirth, reason, cubase.
but fruity is the best i reckon if your jus startin out cos you can do simple stuff that sounds aight with little knowledge, and as you get betta you find more features and can make more complex stuff. kinda useful on every level innit.and it supports vst dont it?

ejays $$$$, you know if it was a real life toy it'd have like 3 big fat colourful buttons n be made by tomy....''My first song maker; from tomy''

Yah fruity supports VSTs. Although some Steinberg ones dont work with it (they've done it so they only work in Cubase)

if your just starting out fruityloops is alright, tough it's a bit of a toy, but it'll help you get to grips with music production etc. then reason; the easiest to use of the major music prod. progs is a good next step, and then theres sonar, acid pro, protools <---- all v. good programs........

u can jus download it with the software u use to get songs if u download tunes n that. at leats that way u get the full program rather than a demo wich u can prob get off fruityloops site
