Default And Finally... (maybe)

Right then, I've now got my copy of Sound Forge, I've had a play around with it today, I've got some ideas about what I want to put together, but I have one problem. I've mentioned it before to you lot, but never really found out what I wanted to know (in great enough detail - you see I'm a bit thick with all of this stuff!)

I'm at a stage where I need to upload some samples onto my computer so that I can start putting something togther. I think I know what I've got to do with regards to working with the samples, but I'm not sure about how to actually get them onto the computer.

Apparently, I need to plug my mixer into the soundcard on my PC? How do I do this? What does the plug for the soundcard look like? Do I need any adaptors to enable me to connect the lead from my mixer into any of the small sockets on the back of my PC? Then, will my computer recognise that my decks are there? How do I get what's playing on my decks to play through the speakers on my computer? Finally, how do I record what I'm playing? Is there a facility within Sound Forge itself that will recognise the decks, play the music and then enable me to record the it?

If anyone can help, I'd be very greatful, but please bear in mind that any solutions that you may have will have to be very simple so that I can understand them. I might be "slow" at the moment, but I'm well keen to learn something new and actually make something of it, so please be gentle.

On a slightly different point, is there somewhere I can download garage-related "noises", such as loops, bass, beats, drums, etc?

Thanks a lot, and sorry for being such a pain in the a r s e!
