1. made the "ooohs" so they are in tune with the vocal, same with the chords
2. put an effect on the chords
3. added a bit of variation in the beat
4.made a new bassline

> With my vocals i have 2 channels (1 on channel 1 and 1 on channel 2) and the channel1 i want to have an effect on (double delay) when i do this in cubase tho it puts an effect on every channel, if ne 1 knows how to get around this in cubase then please help - that is why bits of vocal 'cut off' because with the delay it does work!!

easy, no need to get your feathers ruffled. I have to agree with whiteman harris... it's a lil out of tune mate. You can do better than that, I heard some of your work ! Just play with the chords a lil bit then you'll get it to work. Beats not boring at all. Just needs a lil bit of ear candy here and there. Goodluck mate!

The Oohs are completely out of tune with the vocal, and that 3rd rising one's a little weird. Piano is way to loud and needs some kind of FX on it. They don't really compliment the vocal at all, and that itself ends up drowned out, tone down the cymbals a lot, that and the snare are far too tinny.

Bline is a nice rumbley one but again it simply follows the rest of the tune...what do you use to mixdown? Your elements seem all out of proportion to each other.

i use cubase, i think its probably cos when i mix down i have a couple on channel 1+2 say, so they all get turned up and are all louder.

i understand wot u say about the notes, i really dont like doing notes that completly follow the tune cos i think it sounds boring, i will redo that, im not sure how to aproach the tune, do you think when i put new chords in i should still have piano?

this is done quite well. especially the vocals - the uh's mostly. intro is nice. im just not feelin that noise used in the main part after the drop. sounds droning.

other than that the chords are wicked and the beats & piano tings are propa criss.

There are many technical issues with this mix. First...I have to ask what you're monitoring on. As others have said, the levels of everything seem to be fighting each other. I can barely hear the drums when the bass comes in, the vocals/bass fight for space, and there is distortion (of the bad kind) all over the place. Maybe it's time to consider changing your monitoring/headphone system.

I'm guessing that's one of the main issues as your arrangement and way you work this track and everything else I heard of yours is very good and getting better. (for this reason, I think your ears KNOW what they want to hear) The mixing/engineering of your tracks are REALLY hurting the overall impression. It's almost if you've baked a nice cake and then covered it with mud. No one's going to try to look inside.

So the arrangement is nice. The drop of the beat early, then the slow build back in is well-timed. The b-line comes in at the proper moment, and all that good stuff. There are issues with the chords, though. Chord 1 sounds okay, but everything gets sketchy after that.

The wah-wah bass sounds everso slightly delayed compared with the drums.

You've got to watch out when using fx's and dynamics in Cubase as it has a habit of delaying the audio on channel it's being used on.
