Absolutely - I think it's an institution.

Admittedly, it needs an overhaul but it'd be a real shame to lose it...

I think it is a crying shame but surely the decreasing number of viewers just proves that there isn't much demand for it anymore.

I reckon the future for music channels lies on the web

Make it more credible, less cheesy, FORGET about including TOTP2 in it (whose idea was that?!?!), concentrate on the 'performances' - put it back on a Thursday night after teatime when millions used to watch it as a) there was nothing else on/to do and b) they're not going to go out instead (as they would on a Friday and where it all went wrong...)

How is it that Radio 1 can give us such seemingly credible offerings yet the BBC can't create a decent TV counterpart?

With the live scene thriving in the UK, it's a shame that TOTP never reflected that. Channel 4 is doing it with shows like Transmission and the Album Chart Show (where the performances were at a proper venue as opposed to a studio and were actually live) and Later with Jools Holland is doing a good job of bringing new acts to people's attention.

thats a good point. going down the live performance route may have saved TOTP

totp is dead n buried, theres just no market for it anymore! the music scene is constantly changing with bands like panic at the disco, fall out boy, gorrilaz, etc but totp seem to forget that! were not a bunch of 12 year olds listening to cheesy pop anymore, even todays 12 year old have got taste and listen to real bands!
