Welcome y'all, now here's a tale,
About the streets where I live in the town I dwell,
There ain't no projects, and there ain't no ghetto,
It ain't as hard as Harlem,
Ain't as deadly as Soweto
But if you look at someone the wrong way then you will get beat,
And if you want drugs, you can shop on the street,
Got cops staking out the darkest corners,
They watch the dealers on the streets, I think I should warn ya
We got a town full of Kosovans and Kurds,
Iraqi's, Iranians, Albanians,
Dumped here in their herds,
Rehoused in a new country in the $$$$test of towns,
But to them it's all good, ain't no need to frown
Walk in Alexandra Park at night, and you will get jumped,
Get mixed up with drug dealers, and you will get pumped,
There have been a few assasinations and contract killings,
If the bad die or go to jail, there's a few that are willing
To step in the shoes of the biggest criminals,
Because the message this town sends is in their heads,
It's so subliminal,
There ain't no jobs, so you have to strive,
And do foul $$$$ just to stay alive
The police here are hopeless and the council's a joke,
Won't do $$$$ for the young, why the $$$$ did I vote?
They don't seem to notice that the situation,
Is getting drastic, and we tired of waitin
Do they know that Hastings is the drug capital of the south?
Do they know that 85% of us live hand to mouth?
Do they know that they released mentalists on the streets?
Do they know that the war on crime is nearing a defeat?
The real people that live here make staying here worth it,
And I don't wanna moan cos I know everywhere ain't perfect,
But the troubles that we have are so $$$$ing needless,
They could be solved in a day, I hope that the council reads this
Over the years I've seen us pour into the gutter,
$$$$load shops closing down, now they shutting up shutters,
It seems that the fabric of life is slowly coming undone,
It's no wonder that they call this place little London

north london is where i was bred not far from it i was born
on this council estate,poor families who are broke and all torn
turks,arabs and many foreigners from all over they come
got a lil older and not wiser and spend my dayz on the bun
i aint ever seen no 1 killed but gun shots was always heard
see it on the news next day,rival battle between the kurds
but i moved on from there,basildon is now my new home
