Not really! Have you seen them at the UMF? I think that B's performance was a step ahead than J's. More attitude, more voice, more presence... Dont get me wrong, Jamelia was great, shes fit + can sing. Just think Beyonce is something more.

Beyonce has believed all her own hype. which is sucha shame because the public finds a modest star far more indearing.

her heads bigga than her boootiie. which u KNOW is big.

Thats true: head + ass are big.

Still you cannot deny shes good in what she does. She aint a modest star. Shes a star. Period. U gotta admit that.

I do quite like some of her music but she has seriously relied on other people to launch her career...Jay-Z,Neptunes,SeanPaul....and don't really like her voice that much either....just one of those things...hate Joe and R Kelly's voice too....can't explain why though.

I think I prefer Kelly Rowland style wise moreso....

Jamelia will never really make it. If she gets 1/10 of what Beyonce has got she'll be lucky but her songs never do much (her only one I like was Money), dunno she seems pretty dull really.

Beyonce has a filthy bod, can really sing, and needs to gimme a call

Jamelia did make it in UK + Europe, but still has to prove she can last and leave some marks. At the end of the day she done 2 albums in 5 years or so and Im sure many people don't even remember "money" by now.

I think she is a good artist and I really hope she can rep UK in Europe and maybe worldwide. But speaking merely about "success", she cannot be compared to B. She dominated the charts for many years with Destiny's Child and solo stuff.

But I hear u when u say she needs other people to support her. B4 with the band, then with Jay Z Sean Paul etc. Anyway the first single of the album was actually Work It that scored "only" a no.7 in the charts. She was singing it alone, but it was pushed by the Austin Power s movie... so maybe she cannot make it on her on for real...I dunno...

Jamelia-as much as i love tha girl-isn't star material.she's incredibly medioca? $$$$ badddd spelliiin there.

she'll never be Beyonce, because remember, this is tha UK versus USA..and we never win on the RnB market.

i'll be the except to the rule ofcourse. ... ..

Talk about negative! I think Jamelia has some style and class and do like her music...although I can see the mediocre comment's point....but do think she has come to be far more than that! I think her 'Call Me' days were a tad boring (but still likeable) but her 'Thank You' song and video are just classy. I like her anyway. Also, just because she hasn't made it in the US hardly makes that much of a difference....the US isn't the world like some people think!

'She dominated the charts for many years with Destiny's Child and solo stuff.' - oh please!!! 2 No.1's with DC and one on her own hardly qualify her into the hall of fame!

As for that comment about US R&B artists being better than the UK artists....well....tut tut....I so prefer UK R&B to US, I just think it has a smoother feel to it....less polished which I like!!! UK Urban music really isn't commercial at all (give or take a few artists) and I think we should support it! I think UK artists have a class about them that US never have....
Ok I'm babbling now......bla bla bla

"the US isn't the world like some people think!"
True, but a no1 in South Korea is pretty different than a no1 in US, innit?

<<'She dominated the charts for many years with Destiny's Child and solo stuff.' - oh please!!! 2 No.1's with DC and one on her own hardly qualify her into the hall of fame!>>

You started saying that she is overrated. This means that people do think she is some kind of "icon" and you disagree with them. This is THE topic we are talking about. I can even agree with you. I'm not a fan of Destiny's child and Beyonce, and I think that she has still to prove something.

At the same time I recognize her talent and the impact she has in the music. More than 30 million records sold in 6 years don't go unnoticed. The album "survivor" was no.1 in US, UK, Canada, Germany and Netherlands (so not only US...). "the writing on the wall" was in the US top 40 for 47 weeks in the first year of release, D's C had 4 no1 singles, Beyonce's got 2 no.1 singles and about a dozen of top10 singles between the group, solo and soundtrack thing.
This week she has 4 different singles in the Canadian top40.
She might be overrated but you cannot deny she has an impact. If she is insignificant, why did you start this thread?

UK vs US mean nothing, americans are not genetically superior in RnB making. Music does not have colors and does not have nationality. Its about the individual that makes the music, his talent and his passion.

I never said she was insignificant debrando, I know they've had reasonable success. I just think she has been hyped up too much...and unnecessarily. Also, I know the US market is probably the biggest and most lucrative in the world but my point was that just because an artist doesn't have success there doesn't mean they are not a succesful artist....Robbie William's...ahem.

The problem with Robbie is that hes obsessed with the US. He should just enjoyed his success in the rest of the world and find better ways to spend his money than promoting his records in America.

You see, when you say the US isn't the world: Hes got the whole world but the US. I'd be like "the yankees dont mean ish to me, Ive got other continents that gimme love" . Instead he keeps making a fool of himself. Thats for me is stupid. In his case I agree with you D, the US ISN'T the world.

And big up the UK! I agree with when you say american music its too polished. Hiphop cannot sound plastic, man.
