Default looking for an old skool song from 1990

Hi,

I'm looking for a song that was played on the background of a
Beverly Hills 90210 episode called 'BYOB' aired on 3rd January 1991.
It's sung by a female vocalist and it is a hip dance song from the
early 90s, probably from a one hit wonder of those years. Her voice
is kinda Belinda Carlisle/Martika but it is not one of them. I also
thought about Cathy Dennis, there are songs of hers from those years
that I haven't heard like: 'That's The Way f The World' and 'The
Love I Lost' and there's a resemblance on the singer's voice with
Cathy's. It's very old skool and probably from one of those one hit wonders of those years.

Here are some of the lyrics:

I am mid talk
I am love
I am mid walk
I am lost
I am rain
I am lord
I am down for a better love

Chorus:

To be your mother, not to be your mother
To be a captive
To be your father, not to be your father
To be a captive
To be your brother, not to be your brother
To be a captive

The singer sings the to be a captives and the to be's not to be's
are sung by female back up singers.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advace,
Berto
