Last time the Butterz & Hardrive Squadrons touched down at Cable the atmosphere was unrivalled and badman performances from all on hand firmly cemented this perfect partnership as the premier new-wave grime movement in the capital. Well it's fitting, then, that Butterz label heads Elijah and Skilliam and Hardrive cohort Terror Danjah are back to do it all over again, this time with their most hard hitting crew to date.
As one of the most notorious grime collectives in the country, it makes perfect sense that the Newham Generals should come and have their say at this installment. Originating from the notorious Newham borough of London and originally part of Marcus Nasty's N.A.S.T.Y Crew, D Double E, Footsie and DJ Tubby are the members; producers and MCs of the harsh, grime sounds of the Newham Generals. Meanwhile, we have a Butterz debut from South London mic man Trim. As a Former Roll Deep member, prolific mixtape maker and founder of The Circle Collective, Trim has the pedigree. His intricate rhythms, haunting lyrics and aggressively precise word play has earned him the rep as one of the best MCs in the UK. Next up is a thoroughly seasoned selector within the Grime fold and with 5 years under his belt on KissFM, Logan Sama is a revered booking on any bass-heavy running order. The man will spin a very rare garage set so hold tight!
As usual the Butterz & Hardrive stalwarts Swindle, Elijah & Skilliam, Champion and D.O.K will offer up a sturdy foundation and Terror Danjah will team up with MC Riko for a special set. We'll also be treated to special guest performances from Gobstopper Records boss Mr Mitch and Formula Records signee Notion making this, yet again, an unmissable journey through the new-wave of grime.
