THE PEAFISH HOPE AND ANCHOR FESTIVAL

The Hope and Anchor in Islington, London has been a home to live music for over 30 years and like so many of our historic music venues, its future is not guaranteed. There are already too many other London venues that have either sadly lost the battle for survival or are still fighting like the Rayners, home to Ska and Reggae music for many years before property developers caused it to close down as well as the world famous Astoria which is also now battling for survival.

Well in order to do something about all this and raise awareness of our very special historic venues Peafish Promotions has organised a fantastic 3 day charity event with guest appearances by some of the amazing artists who have played at the Hope over the years and who still hold the lovely old Hope and Anchor close to their hearts.

This really is an historic reunion of artists in what is simply one of our most loved historic venues.

The Peafish Hope and Anchor festival also commemorates 30 years since the legendary Front Row Festival in 1977, so called because wherever you stand in the Hope and Anchor basement to watch a gig you are effectively in the ‘Front Row’ The weekend features many of the original artists from the Front Row Festival of 1977 as well as several of the rising acts of the current gigging scene.

The festival has its own ‘house band’ in place who are providing support to solo guest artists at the festival. The house band consists of the multi-talented Rowland Rivron on drums, the Blockheads Lee Harris on guitar and Luke Gallagher on Bass.

All profits from the festival will be going to Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy who are the UKs leading independent provider of music therapy services. Each year they provide over 30,000 music therapy sessions to children and adults in need across the UK

All the artists involved have agreed to play for free because of their love of the Hope and Anchor and support for quality live music venues across the country.

At the moment the guest artist line up for the weekend stands like this, although more artists are adding their names to the list all the time and we have support from many unsigned up and coming bands.
