The Gareth Emery Manchester Podcast Party
with LANGE, COSMIC GATE, JEROME ISMA-AE & ACTIVA
*** please note, this event is ticket-only. see below for details ***
Since last February’s 50th Episode Podcast Party in London, we’ve received rather a lot of emails asking when we’d be doing it again. And we know, we’ve been slow, but we wanted to ensure that we got it right, and we rather think we have. For this event, we decided to up sticks and head North to Manchester, where we’ve blagged ourselves the most talked about new venue in the city, Spektrum, and managed to persuade Lange, Cosmic Gate, Jerome Isma-Ae and Activa to join Gareth behind the decks for another riotous night of podcast partying where we plan on well and truly smashing the myth that January clubbing can be a bit flat.
First up, the venue. Open since September ’08, Spektrum is Manchester’s next-generation club created by the people behind Sankeys. It’s an intimate venue with a mood delicately balanced between futuristic plush and warehouse chic, with a capacity of just 300 people, making this event even more exclusive than our last one.
It’s got a Funktion-One/Phazonhybrid soundsystem which’ll make the music sound every bit as good as it deserves to, and also has a Madrix LED lighting system, which is a bit difficult to describe, but we’ve never seen anything quite like it and we doubt you will have either. The club is normally reserved for house and techno and has never had a taste of trance before, but thanks to a bit of luck, for one night only it’s ours (and yours). For more information and photos, check out http://www.spektrumclub.info
Next, the guests. First up is the UK’s foremost trance legend LANGE, probably the only UK artist who’s equally renowned for his modern cutting edge sound as he is for his ‘golden age’ classics. After recently dropping his ‘Better Late Than Never’ album and a string of huge singles, he’s on fire right now. Another act well known for having a rich history whilst remaining at the absolute forefront of forward-thinking dance music are German legends COSMIC GATE. As producers and DJs, they've been setting the standard over the last few years, and with their new studio album due for release shortly after this event, we couldn’t think of a better time to have them over.
Another major coup for us is a rare UK appearance by future house superstar JEROME ISMA-AE. He’s one of the few artists with true crossover appeal, with his tracks being just as popular with Tong and Cattaneo as they are with Armin and Tiesto. An extremely accomplished producer and fast-rising DJ, his sound is deep and tribal yet melodic, with groove aplenty, making him the perfect choice to kick things off. Completing the line up is UK rising star ACTIVA. With tracks peppering the sets of Paul van Dyk (and just about everyone else who matters) and an extraordinary reputation for flawless peak-time sets at his residency at Digital Society Leeds, it meant that when asking ourselves who could conclude the night’s proceedings in true podcast style, we only ever had one name in mind.
What else? Well, like before, all the sets will be recorded for The Gareth Emery Podcast complete with crowd noise, and this time, the event will also professionally filmed MTV-style by our mates over at Dancefoundation.nl.
Finally, please note that this party is TICKET ONLY, meaning you need to buy your ticket in advance in order to get in. This is because our London event sold out, and having to turn people away on the door wasn’t much fun, so please ensure you buy your ticket early as there are only 300 of them, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Tickets are priced at a credit-crunch friendly £12 (+ booking fee), exclusively from http://www.ticketweb.co.uk (link at top of page).
