    • JFK – ‘‘Akira Kayosa is one of the UKs leading lights in the future of club land, a hardworking and incredibly dedicated DJ/producer he really enraptures the sound of the 21st century dance music.”

In the first few years of his career, he cemented his reputation as one of the scene’s rising stars with pumping, emotional sets that got any dance floor moving. Now firmly established as a regular at top UK brands like Gatecrasher, Passion and The Syndicate, Akira has played alongside the best in the industry, including Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten.

    • Sean Tyas -“Russ aka Akira Kayosa is a perfect example of proper golden-age influence trance infused with the current production techniques of today, keeping his productions & remixes PERFECT for peak hour dancefloor explosions. Adding to the fact that he’s a class act person and loves to just talk shop for hours with people, Russ’ career compass only points one way… North.”

With only days to go until our 1st April event, we put Gavyn Mytchel in the Forward Spotlight in anticipation of his Forward debut this Friday!

FWD))) Hey Gav, how are you today?

Yeah not bad! Just working on a new Gavyn Mytchel eflyer for my agent to send out to all the promoters to get me work for Aug / Sept / Oct time, its looking good so far!

FWD))) For the last 10 years you've been behind one of London's biggest club success stories in the form of The Gallery. How have you managed to sustain such an excellent vibe all these years?

It will be 11 years beginning of June, WOW! Its been an amazing journey booking the biggest DJs every week for 11 years! The best thing is that the party is getting stronger as we go along. Our numbers are well up from last year which is great. We also celebrate 16 years end of April so hopefully everyone who has supported us over the years will be out for a big one!!

FWD))) We hear there's a forthcoming compilation album coming out soon? Tell us a little bit about it.

It won't be me but The Gallery will be hopefully putting out a new CD in July but I don't really have much more to say about that as I'm waiting on Ministry to confirm. It would be great to put out two a year which would help with The Gallery tours around the UK and across the globe.

FWD))) As its your Forward debut, what can the fans expect from your style of sound?

I will be playing Tech House/Progressive just getting the party started I think I'm on early so will have cool sounds for that time.

FWD))) So you have changed your style of music this year calling it "Deep Tech Funk House". Any reason (feeling old)?

Lol yeah you are so right. As I got older I slowed down a bit plus I get to play early instead of doing the late sets but mainly just loving that deeper techy sound but with drive!

FWD))) Any new releases on the horizon?

Yeah just done two tracks which have had about 11 labels come back to me wanting to sign which is cool. I've just got to choose the best deal and label now you can check them out on Gavyn Mytchel's sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free There is a new mix on there as well so feel free to listen.

FWD))) Name the top 3 tracks just can't seem to leave your DJ bag this year?

This is a difficult one!!! I would have to say 1. Logiztik Sounds - Le Plus Important (Gabriel Rocha Remix) 2. Caytas & Patz - Escargot (Martin Dawson Remix) 3. Sasha Le Monnier - Wags (Deep Future Remix)

FWD))) The Viceroy and yourself present The Gallery Sessions, a 2 hour weekly radio show. How did that come about?

I was given the show back in 2003 when I riding high off my Mixmag future hero status and Fergie's Radio One show plus I had just been given residency at The Gallery as well so all was looking good. Then I was approached by Rob Sharp who at the time was head of the radio department. I was given it monthly but then within 4 months, i was doing it every Friday Live from 2 - 4pm which was great! I added The Viceroy when I stopped playing trance around 2007. As it was a Gallery show I needed the second hour to be Trancey. Originally I was going to use guest mixes but it was good for The Viceroy to get involved and he does a good job! So I do the first hour warming it up the he finishes off. We are now every Friday 6pm - 8pm at Ministry of Sound

FWD))) Over the years you have had the pleasure of playing all over the UK. What would you say the is difference between the clubbers in the 'North vs South' (of course the Northerners stand out)?

With the North they just can't wait to let themselves go and have a great night out!!! I was the same when I use to go to Cream in Liverpool back in 98 - 2000. I was very vocal on that dance floor shouting "lets ave it", "wooh wooh", whistling etc... I don't know why they are less up for it down here! Saying that though, The Gallery at Turnmills was exactly the same as the Northern crowds. Ministry is different.

FWD))) And finally, where do you see yourself in another 10 years time?

Jesus, not sure I reckon I have enough energy to keep on doing what I'm doing for another 10 years but would like to start a new venture into making music for commercials, radio adverts, TV etc... maybe start my own company who knows!!
