New Slang is a weekly indie/alt club night that takes place every Thursday at The Works in Kingston Upon Thames. We have live bands and then DJs until 2am. It's a blast! In the past we've had some ace bands play like Good Shoes, Metronomy, Young Knives, Rumble Strips, Foals, Hot Club De Paris, Art Brut, The Weakerthans, and Architecture In Helsinki.

And there are plenty of exciting things coming up in the not to distant future too. This Thursday (Jan 10th) we've got a band called Clocks playing. They've just been signed to Island and made a record with the guy who produced Bloc Party (his name escapes me), and are set for a big year.

It is usually £4 to get in with a flyer, or £5 without. Occasionally it is a a bit more expensive if the bands are bigger, for example of the dates above Los Campesinos! is £5, and The Rakes is £6, but we keep it as cheap as we possibly can.

Kingston is easy to get to from London, and there are night buses going back to central.

The club opens at 9pm, until 2am. The first hour is happy hour so all drinks are just £2! After that it's not bad either, for example, a pint of XXXX is £2.10, and a Double Vodka Red Bull is £2.50!!! Winner!
