London’s definitive indie-dance festival Get Loaded in the Park swaggers back into town on Bank Holiday Sunday 26th August 2007 for a 4th rock n’ roll year of live music, DJs & festival fun - on home turf Clapham Common. As part of the Metro Weekender (together with dance all-dayer South West Four – held the previous day), Get Loaded’s award-winning festival has established itself as one of the UK’s most groundbreaking inner-city events, and last year’s sell out show was widely regarded as the best ‘Get Loaded’ yet. Having rejuvenated Pete Doherty’s Babyshambles last summer and helped break the likes of Lily Allen, The Pipettes and Guillemots to a wider audience, whilst Tiga, Erol Alkan, Green Velvetand Digitalism kept the electro freaks happy in the Dance Arena!! Plus we were rather chuffed to have picked up 3 nominations at the UK Festival Awards 2006 for Best One Day Festival, Best New Festival and Innovation Award (Ticket buyers were given a free and exclusive track by headliners Babyshambles, plus access to a new secret website). Back in 2004 Get Loaded in the Park scooped Best New Festival at the UK Festival Awards.

Get Loaded in the Park 2007 will push the musical envelope further still as we bring the good people of London our greatest line-up EVER and plenty of exclusive festival performances to get you all rather excited about. As the boundaries between indie and dance, live and electronic music become ever more blurred and intertwined, never before has a festival been as apt or significant as Get Loaded in the Park will be, come the summer…

THE STREETS :: UK FESTIVAL EXCLUSIVE

Headlining this summer’s Get Loaded in the Park and having the honour of closing the main stage will be the voice of real middle England, The Streets. Local lad Mike Skinner – who famously invited the Happy Mondays round to a BBQ before their slot at 2004’s Get Loaded in the Park - is of course the witty and original MC behind the beats and rhymes of The Streets. Having first broke onto the scene in 2002 from the ashes of UK garage with the pioneering album ‘Original Pirate Material’, The Streets followed up their Mercury Prize nominated debut with a No.1 selling second album, ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’ in 2004. This highly praised concept album took the South London outfit to a whole new level (3 million copies sold, plus multiple Brit and Ivor Novello awards), before album No.3; last year’s ‘The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living’ album saw The Streets replace fiction with fact on their honest and frank tale of celebrity darkness… confirming their status as one of the world’s most innovative and original artists. This will be The Streets’ only UK Festival appearance all summer (apart from our Cardiff Calling festival in Wales) and with news reaching us that they’ll be performing brand new material for the first time ever, you really need to check them out!!

MAIN STAGE MASH-UP!!

Main stage support goes to indie-rockers Dirty Pretty Things. Pete Doherty got loaded last summer and now it’s the turn of his former Libertines bandmate Carl Barât to rock the Common with his new band!! 2006 was a massive year for Dirty Pretty Things, as they released the critically acclaimed album ‘Waterloo to Anywhere’ and graced the stages of pretty much every major festival around the globe. With the anthem ‘Bang Bang You’re Dead’ gate-crashing the UK Charts at No.5 and a near record number of sell-out shows at Carling Brixton Academy backing up their hot credentials, Carl & co look set to pick up where pal Pete Doherty left off last summer. The Go! Team are the six-piece from Brighton (with two drummers!) whose debut album ‘Thunder, Lightening, Strike’ (which spawned cult single ‘Ladyflash’) received critical acclaim and a Mercury Music Prize nomination to boot. With their cheerleader chants, early hip hop and 70s funk, The Go! Team are a truly unique live experience and return to form with new single ‘Grip Like a Vice’ and a wicked new album to boot! Welsh heroes The Automatic bring their ‘electro-disco-metal-rock’ to the Common, having played for us in Wales the previous night. The Cardiff quintet burst onto the scene last year with the smash hit ‘Monster’, taken from the Gold-selling album ‘Not Accepted Anywhere’ and they’ve been picking up fans ever since! Alternative rockers Art Brut have recently been added to the bill fresh from their sell-out Astoria show, making this a hotly-anticipated home-town gig for the local heroes. Meanwhile, Swedish trio Peter, Bjorn & John kick off the day’s entertainment with an early set, dropping amongst other great things, the brilliantly beautiful ‘Young Folks’, plus we welcome Liverpool’s insanely popular (The) Wombats to finish the live duties. DJ wise in between bands… Radio 1’s ‘Worldwide’ host and veteran jock Gilles Peterson flexes his eclectic muscle, alongside party starters The Nextmen and the UK’s answer to 2manydjs – London town’s very own Streetlife DJs.

NEW HOSTS FOR 2007!! Stars from Auntie Beeb’s cult TV show The Mighty Boosh will be swapping the small screen for the big stage at Get Loaded in the Park this summer as we’re delighted to announce them as our official hosts for the day!! Featuring Noel Fielding (Vince Noir), Michael Fielding (Naboo), plus special Guest DJs, The Mighty Boosh will be introducing headline acts The Streets and Dirty Pretty Things, plus DJing in between bands.

XFM GET DIZZEE WITH M.I.A!!

Elsewhere on site, Get Loaded are proud to present the X-FM Stage – brought to life by London’s leading indie/rock station. Hosted by John Kennedy and Eddy Temple Morris, the X-FM Stage will feature a cutting edge soundtrack of global beats headlined by the Mercury Award Winning rapper Dizzee Rascal. His incredible new album ‘Maths and English’ has been described by the Observer Music Monthly as the “most important UK hip hop album of the last decade” and follows cult releases ‘Boy in Da Corner’ and ‘Showtime’. Everyone’s talking about Dizzee and you can catch him live at Get Loaded this summer!! The Rascal will be joined by a heavy list of hot talent – most notably the Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. Her forthcoming LP, ‘KALA’ (it charts the day of Get Loaded!) is tipped to be one of the albums of the year, following up the Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Arular’. Her style contains elements of grime, hip hop, raga, dancehall, electro and baile funk and producer gods Diplo, Timbaland and Switch all had a hand in her latest masterpiece. Very exciting indeed. On a similar vibe, and still Diplo-related, we welcome Brazil’s latest musical exports Bonde Do Role to spread more electronic love. Domino Records’ priority artist behind the Artic Monkeys (heard of them?!) make songs about partying, f**king, going to the beach, partying and f**king on the beach, secret agents and queuing at the post office. Tipped to be one of the most exciting new bands of 2007 and perfect for Get Loaded!! Also on the bill are NME New Music tour headliners The Rumble Strips, punk-funk specialists ¡Forward, Russia!, the hotly tipped Remi Nicole – think, “sunshine beats of M.I.A, combined with the gritty songwriting of Plan B” (NME), plus London five piece XX Teens (formerly Xerox Teens) and the very, very new, yet very, very good Florence & The Machine.

GET YOUR DANCING BOOTS ON…

Get Loaded’s Dance Arena is this year hosted by the Myspace clan – time for a quick plug then: www.myspace.com/getloadedinthepark. The line-up is arguably our greatest to date, with some exclusive festival appearances right across the musical spectrum. At the top of the stack and headlining the arena will be 2manydjs - the biggest Belgium export since, Hoegaarden! These guys are untouchable when it comes to bashing down the genres and in no time at all they’ve taken over the clubbing world as we know it - whether it be as 2manydjs or via their Radio Soulwax and Nite Versions projects. All hail the kings. The irresistible DJ Yoda brings his charmingly playful set to the afternoon’s agenda and another legendary rawkus mash-up, alongside Modular Records’ masterful MSTRKRFT who play in London for only the 2nd time this year. Get in. On a live tip, Digitalism make it two Get Loaded’s in a row as they return with a mind-blowing new live show. Currently packing a punch with debut album ‘Idealism’ (featuring underground smashes ‘Jupiter Room’, ‘Zdarlight’ and ‘Pogo’), it’s easy to see why Digitalism are the most exciting electronic band since The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk. Ed Banger Records’ ‘Hot Chick’, Uffie also performs exclusively live together with fellow Ed Banger Feadz. And finally… Diesel U-Music winner and Turbo Records signing (Tiga’s label) Duke Dumont joins scenesters Zombie Disco Squad and Old Blue Last / Ed Banger cohorts People Are Germs for more sleazy, musical filth. Roadblock.

THE BEATS (AND BASSLINES)!!

When not writing multi-million selling albums or touring the world, Mike Skinner aka The Streets can be found in the studio developing his talented pool of young MCs on his record label – THE BEATS. With The Streets providing a climatic finale on the main stage, elsewhere on site The Beats will be hosting their very own Stage at this year’s Get Loaded in the Park. The intimate Arena will feature all the label’s major players – The Mitchell Brothers, Professor Green and Example, plus selected live guests and DJs. With new track ‘Solemate’ currently causing some damage The Mitchell Brothers top the bill, backed up Example - who’s new track ‘I Don’t Want To’ is out late June and Professor Green, who features on The Streets’ remix of Twang’s ‘Either Way’ and is busy finishing his album. The Beats Soundsystem also bring on the party with their DJ Crews, whilst live guest Man Like Me throw down their classic dance moves and killer track ‘Oh My Gosh’!! On a DJ tip, The Beats welcome Fabric resident and Kiss FM DJ Sinden to mix up Baltimore rave, baile funk, electro and dancehall…. whilst 1xtra’s DJ Semtex smashes up the system with his hip hop flavours. He ain’t Dizzee Rascal’s tour DJ for nuttin!!

- NEWTON FAULKNER JUST ADDED -

Another name to add to that list is the surf dude with the huge dreads aka Newton Faulkner!! Currently sitting pretty at No.8 in the UK Single Charts with his awesome debut track ‘Dream Catch Me’ and No.3 in the UK Album Charts (for the 2nd week running) with debut LP ‘Hand Built by Robots’, Newton is currently one of the most hotly tipped new singer/songwriters of the year – and definitely one to watch! His sound? Well it’s acoustic guitar like you’ve never heard it before. It’s things done to six strings that will boggle the ears and eyes. It’s a throaty but gentle blues croon that speaks of backwoods, beaches and the badlands of, err, Surrey. It’s t*u*n*e*s, the likes of which have become a word-of-myspace cult across the Cornwall surf scene and landed prestigious support slots with Jack Johnson’s cult buddy Donavon Frankenreiter and Paolo Nutini. The Get Loaded gang witnessed his magic first hand at a recent gig and again at the Electric Gardens festival, and trust us, his live show really is something else! Look out for comedy interludes, mixed with cult tunes, a genius cover of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’ and Sponge Bob Square Pants… don’t ask! Catch Newton in the XFM Stage late on. Web: www.myspace.com/newtonfaulkner

- DEVILS GUN & WILD BEASTS ALSO PLAY -

Joining Newton as the newest kids on the block will be electronic outfit Devils Gun and Leeds fab four Wild Beasts. We caught a glimpse of Devils Gun at our recent Electric Gardens festival and they totally blew us away – they were arguably the best act we saw all weekend! With flashes of Faithless and traces of Groove Armada, they’ve got huge crossover potential and have one of the coolest frontmen we’ve seen in a long time, backed up by a wicked motley crew of musicians including one crazy ass dude on the drums / percussion!! You’ll find Devils Gun performing live in the Myspace Dance Arena alongside 2Manydjs, MSTRKRFT, Digitalism and co, so make sure you check ‘em out. Web: www.myspace.com/devilsgun. Wild Beats meanwhile, will be flexing their guitars early doors in the XFM Stage. They’re on the road soon supporting Jack Penate, so are definitely a band to watch out for!! Web: www.myspace.com/wildbeasts

- AFTER PARTY ANNOUNCED -

From the Common’s green grass to Clapham Grand’s flashing dancefloor…. the party continues a short stagger away as we ask you to Get Loaded some more at our Official Festival After Party. All the bands are on the list, so expect to bump into some familiar faces at the bar!! You never know, you might even get lucky, tonight is YOUR night. Needless to say, we’ve pulled out all the stops to round off your Bank Holiday weekend with a bang. Nabbing the headline slot at the Afters will be 2ManyDJs, the main draw from the Myspace Dance Stage earlier in the day. When it comes to the mash-up DJ set, these Belgium brothers pretty much invented it and are the pioneers of this sound all over the globe. When not twisting our minds as 2ManyDJs, the boys can regularly be found rocking it out under their Soulwax, Radio Soulwax and Nite Versions monikors… but we love ‘em best behind the decks, and that’s exactly what you’re gonna get as the official carry on! Joining them on deck duty will be hot indie band Sunshine Underground, who’ll be jumping in a cab from Reading to swap their guitars for CDJs, alongside Riton – weekly resident for Space in Ibiza…. and unquestionably one of the most talented spinners in the UK right now. On top of that Dan Kahuna (formerly FC Kahuna) throws down more tripped-out electro-tech, with Devils Gun Soundsystem bringing some live noize to the building, fresh from their full live show earlier on in the day. Doors open 9pm – 6am. Tickets are Tickets priced £15 or £40 for a joint Get Loaded in the Park + After Party ticket.
