Now, we like to pull out the stops and bring you some packed-out, top-drawer events for real, but this time we've got a super heavy show for you. We've got veterans in the form of DJ Food and nasty newcomers like JD73 launching his album and throwing it down for a titanic night of beats and live music. Joe Driscoll, Black Grass, the list goes on – granted after that it only goes on as far as Soundcrash residents the Red Alert Soundsystem, but they one Hollerific crew, holding things together like super-glue…

DJ Food is one of the most innovative projects in contemporary music. It is not a person, or a band, or a DJ collective, it is its own entity. An entity which now, handled by Strictly Kev is rocking dancefloors the world over with a mix of jazzy, funky breaks, bootlegs and hip hop, usually building to a drum & bass crescendo that has the crowd going nuts. DJ Food is a tour de force of balance, timing and unmatchable deck-craftsmanship. But you already knew that.

Cheeba is the genre twisting turntablist at the forefront of the ‘Best Club Night in Bristol’ The Detectives of Perspective (Venue Magazine Award 2006). Cheeba has been found playing in a wealth of venues and club nights from Bishopston to Bedminster and beyond including a residency at Solid Steel in Bristol, and we’re more than happy to have him along at soundcrash this month.
