Default Urban House...

This discussion has been had on many other forums and most of you might know my views on this sub genreing of Garage/Funky house music already but what are your views on this? Any of you going to go to the Urban House night at Pacha to see what its saying or going to get the CD?

^^^ lol you got it in one!! But I don't want to be biased so erm discuss people...

Do you reckon this will catch on as a genre in itself or is it just a marketin exercise from people like the dreem team?

With people like Lee Rees representing, why not "Suburban House"?

It's all well and good slating it on the internet but the fact is 90% of theese internet people who claim to know stuff about the scene actually know jack shít.

I've spoken to loads of people in the scene about Urban House and it is not just a dreem teem thing, Many key people in the dance industry are aware of its existance and former garage labels are supporting it and will promote it in a big way over the next 6 months.

BUT AT THE MOMENT Urban House is not a new genre of music. its just 4x4 uk garage and house, but it will develop into something a little bit different eventually.

We have an urban house event in belinia which is literally just down the street from where i live.

Yes, slap the label "Urban" on it and it'll develop and do great commercially... for about 5 minutes.

Fooled into what excatly?, at the moment, urban house is just a word to promote 4x4 garage. its not a genre of music, but it might be in the future.

If it wasn't for distributors releasing tracks that sound like nintendo gameboy music then we would still have a garage scene and wouldn't need to take such drastic mesaures as calling garage house.

I agree with the fact that its a pre-marketed thing and do not like this at all, but on the plus side its bringing back a great sound and great vibes.

Ignore the hype...dont use the Urban House name, but support the sound...and keep it underground garage

Fooled into thinking that a name chance would make things better in the scene !!.

There STILL is a UK Garage scene !!. Just that too many ppl are looking on the negative side of things !!.

Rowland, I personally dont really go clubbing in london but go to urban house events in luton and brighton, the zap used to to a 4x4 garage night that pretty much emptied over the last 6 months, they had an urban house night at event 2 about 3 weeks ago and it was rammed.

So cos you went to a few events under this Urban House name that went well, you now think it's gonna save the UK G scene ?? .................

PLEASE !!

I'm not convinced !!.

well im undecided about it really.... it could help to classify stuff more easily, eg. if you got to a UKG night your probably gona get grime, and if you go to 4x4 or something you get mostly old skool (not saying thats bad, but you cant keep hearing the same old stuff).... so perhaps going to a "urban house" night (not that ive been to one yet), you know youre going to get decent new 4/4 garage stuff........ so in that respect the name doesnt really matter does it? its just a way of classifying it?

Nobody cares about "the GARAGE scene" anymore, its been ruined by kids. All I care about is the fact that I can go to an urban house night and hear the music I like. 4x4 garage and house.
