Default The Bays (Live), 2nd Dec, Fiddlers, Bristol

RUKUS
presents...

The Bays [live]

Stuart Wilkinson (Empathy)
Steve Redux (Giant Robot)

The chances are you'll have heard of The Bays. Having done over 40 gigs this year they're one of the UK's most talked about live acts. Trouble is, if you haven't been to one of those gigs (or picked up their Jockey Slut cover mount CD) you probably won't have actually heard their music. Why? Because they don't make records, infact they don't even write songs, or rehearse, or plan their sets. All they do is turn up and play music to a crowd at a particular moment in time. No loops or backing tracks, just improvisation so you'll never hear the same thing twice. What you will hear is incredible live beats spanning deep house and techno, hip hop, electro and drum n bass layered with dubby bass lines, samples and synths... but not necessarily in that order.

'We're putting the art of live performance back into this type of music', says Andy Gangadeen, world-renowned drummer and backbone of the The Bays's sound. If the reaction of the crowd at the Big Chill is anything to go by, it's working.

‘’The Bays remind you that music is about experience rather than
shopping.’’

[Guardian]

“…irresistible to hear but seeing is definitely believing.’’
[DJ Magazine]

“…a band who are reinventing dance music.’’
