Saturday the 2nd February sees the first edition of Electronation’s Satellite 31 parties at Egg in 2008, following a storming first year in action. Satellite 31 is consistently proving its manifesto of booking hot sought-after DJs and producers from around the globe that provide a musical education to the party’s ever-growing international cool crowd of clubbers.

After having started in 2007 on Friday nights, we continue in 2008 on bi-monthly Saturdays. Last year’s parties featured Alexander Robotnick, Mount Sims, Funk D’Void, Phil Kieran, Bart Skils, Agoria and James Priestley to name but a few, and we return for our first party in 2008 with Deepgrove, Freeform Five and UK debut for Get Physical’s Tiger Stripes at the helm. Joining them is our resident from Electronation, Terry Toner and Tania Von Pear who will be again heading up Going Places in Room 2 with their resident DJs Ben Gomori and Rick Maia.

Room 3 is hosted by those lovely types from the Glovibes collective, while the garden will be covered and heated for the night and the usual shuttle bus will be collecting Satellite 31 clubbers from King’s Cross station.

Freeform Five, the multi-national, multi-talented electro/pop group have received critical acclaim for their releases and have remixed for the likes of N.E.R.D, Justin Timberlake, X-press 2 to name a few. This time they return to mash up Egg with a storming DJ Set from head honcho Anu Pillai. After their first smashing performance last year, we just had to have them back!

Deepgroove’s Lee Pattison and Grayson Shipley have been setting the world alight with their incendiary 4 Decks & EFX DJ show and their red hot productions. Known for various club bangers like ‘Just Luv Rave’ and ‘Boys & Girls’ and their recent SOLO tour for Underwater Records, they will now drop their hottest gems in our main room. Their sound has been supported across the globe, with props from everyone from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, Medicine8, Tom Stephan, Jon Carter, Fatboy Slim, to Annie Nightingale, Seb Fontaine, James Zabiela and Nic Fancuilli.

“Book these guys and the only way you’ll get rid of them is to find them another party”
DJ Magazine

'No messing, they do exactly what it say's on the tin...they know how to drop it!'
Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1)

Electronation resident Terry Toner is a young and energetic DJ, producer and remixer – at the moment one of the main underground house talents in the Dutch electronic music scene. In spite of his young age he has accomplished a great deal and DJed alongside all time heroes like; Jeff Mills, Fatboy Slim, Sander Kleinenberg, Tiefschwarz, Tiga, Plump DJs, Dave Clarke and a lot more. Through ElectroNation, Terry has gained lots of respect and developed his style to what it is today. His sound flows through all levels of house, laced with jackin’ grooves, tech-styled beats and electroflavoured synths. This combined with his love for oldskool acid gives him his energetic and uplifting sound. Next to Terry Toner, Electronation resident Dax will put down his first performance at the London venue.

We spoke to Anu from Freeform Five ahead of his set...about the forthcoming Freeform Five album....

"Well it still needs quite a lot of work...it’s getting there but it seems to be taking forever! The last couple of years have been just nuts – every weekend I’m on a plane flying somewhere doing a different gig, so it’s been really hard to knuckle down and get enough studio work done...but it’s finally coming together. I’ve been working with a whole bunch of different people like Richard X, Paul Epworth...who else....I’ve been trying to work a little bit more with different producers, which is not something I’ve really done before...I’ve worked with vocalists and guest vocalists and things so....just as I said before, changing the way I work, just to keep me on my toes, and it’s been a lot of fun actually. So hopefully there will be a few more collaborations. I’ve done things for other people as well – I did some stuff for The Glimmers for their new album, I did some stuff for this Japanese guy Shinichi Osawa, so hopefully they’ll return the favour and some stuff on my album as well...."
