Mad props to Oron. He bashed out Danny Foster/Mischif Makaz - "Butterflies" when he came through ATL this summer. If I ever get a chance to hit up Baltimore to visit some family, I'll be sure to coincide it with Tuesday night.

drool!!! drool!!! drool!!

absolutely the most perfect club and atmosphere for oron and suzette to share the tables!!!

can't even tell you how refreshing it was to hear some 2-step again....(sonar moved to a new location and isn't open yet, so i went from attending bubbling religiously every sunday to a dry spell and i was really getting tired of dancing in my bedroom)

anyway, suzette started the night out with the smoothest jazzy dnb ever, and oron finished it off with some lifesaving 2step. just what i needed!!

trying to find the words to describe his style....it's intelligent, with a dash of subtle funkiness, uplifting yet relaxing all at the same time....basically it just makes you dance...if you are anywhere near the floor it will sneak up on ya and the next thing you know you are seriously getting your grove on!!!

AND, he had a few dubs!!

2 tracks into his set i was already covered in sweat, so you know it was an AWESOME night!!!

moral of the story...if you are EVER in baltimore on a tuesday night, check out oron and suzette at red maple!!!

.with that said, i'm off to dream.

peace

Default Red Maple...

Yah, Red Maple gets mad points for decor...very chic mod-inspired. The "glass doors-to-patio with a single tree-surrounded by brick" thing is cool, too. Definite potential for a lounge-y atmosphere.

Hey Jena dear, how's life treating you? I should be back in town tomorrow... Looking forward to pushing (revitalizing) the Baltimore scene. And did you see -- Buzz is hosting a night with Sasha @ Redwood Trust? Looks like the rumors of Buzz and Baltimore may be true...

Dan.

(my first post -- everyone cheer or something)

Hey Jena,

I don't remember the track he dropped...I'm kinda bad about that. I like the direction Oron's going; the beats are more scattered and jazzy than is typical in 2-step. I come from more of a DnD/Agent X/Bump&Flex angle, but 2-step is a wide-open genre with much potential. I've done the jazzy thing in the past (when I did DnB) and Oron does it well.

I should be down next week...hopefully with a mix (or two) in hand. Also, finally got a real gig -- that place in Bethesda. Details to follow...

Oh, I think they're going to make me some sort of a paralegal at work...rock...

Take it easy.

Dan.
