Go!Zilla’s third party of 2009 will feature a live show from nu-disco legends Faze Action – the launch-party for their long-awaited new album – plus They Came From The Stars, I Saw Them and DJs Mark E., Lovebox Allstars and James Priestley.

Faze Action is Robin and Simon Lee. They’ve only played live once in London since 2004, a stellar appearance at Go!Zilla – so it’s a natural move for us to be hosting the launch party for their terrific new album, Stratus Energy on their own label, Faze Action. Faze Action all but started the nu-disco craze with their early singles on Nuphonic Records, and went on to produce some of the grooviest house ever made on their classic albums Plans & Designs (1997) and Moving Cities (1999). More recently their evergreen track ‘In The Trees’ was remixed by Carl Craig, Jerome Sydenham and Tiger Stripes for Juno’s 10th Anniversary reissue series, and they’ve released a run of belting new 12”s on their own Faze Action imprint.

Performing live will be Go!Zilla favourites They Came From The Stars, I Saw Them. One of the most freewheeling and unpredictable live acts around, their sound is near-impossible to pin down, but touches on spaced-out psychedelia, krautrock and disco. It’s bright and poppy, a little bit unhinged, but shot through with the effortless funk and momentum of all the best dance music. Signed to respected young London label This Is Not An Exit, TCFTSIST released their album We Are All In The Gutter… last year, lauded by such tastemaking artists as James Murphy and The Emperor Machine.
Midlander Mark E has been one of the hottest names in the disco/house underground for the past few years, winning fans like Gilles Peterson, Moodymann and Prins Thomas along the way. For his Go!Zilla DJ debut expect deep, dubbed-out edits of classic tracks by the likes of Chic, Janet Jackson and Womack & Womack, spliced with his own Detroit and Balearic-influenced productions for Jisco Music and Running Back. Low-slung party music doesn’t get any better than this.

As usual, expect the finest house, disco and techno from resident DJ James Priestley, co-creator of the award-winning Secretsundaze parties. He’ll be joined by his friends from the Lovebox festival, Adrian Fillary and Julian Butterfield, who’ll be DJing as Lovebox Allstars. It’s something of an impromptu Nuphonic reunion, as Julian and Faze Action’s Simon used to spin together as Nuphonic Dream Team! So there you have it: Go!Zilla welcoming in summer at Cargo with a lovingly assembled crop of seriously on-it and like-minded artists from around the UK. Like music? Like fun? Then be there.
