I think I may have come across a little harsh on the Dreem Teem...

I respect them greatly, because they do attempt to reinject that vibe into the scene that has been somewhat strangulated thanks to these dirty bline tracks coming out. Respect to them for doing a good job and always playing enjoyable sets and alongside EZ they are probably the only legal radio draw I'd go to the lengths to record for later listening. They do play some fraff but so does EZ.

As for representing the whole scene with just 10 tracks its nearly impossible. You have different arguements for different types of music - got the vocal, bassline, 2 step, calypso or whatever, even down to that strange stuff that people like Horsepower and Oron make. They can only define what they enjoy within their own limits, and you have to consider - if they were so wrong they'd eventually get found out because no one would lock in.

And as for that Morcheeba rmx by Sunship I'm feeling that highly, it's a bit deeper than his usual stuff.

I agree, you have to cater for everyones music taste. You cant turn up to a gig and play old skool all night just for a quater of the crowd including yourself.
Meaning you gonna have to play $$$$ weather you like it or not.

It's a radio show not a club. You won't see if someone like ir or not - or if one is calling and moaning and 100 just enjoy the sound at home staying quiet. Think about it.

DJs doing this making me laugh -> meaning you will spend your money on $$$$ tunes - must be really idiots. If I don't like a tune I will NOT play it. I have tons of tunes I like. Out of them I'm shure I will make every crowd move - no need to hype a crowd with $$$$ tunes.

Also a crowd that only like $$$$ music isn't really my type of audience.

The Dreem Teem are so far past it it's depressing. They should stick to playing old school. they do that well. Mikee B and Timmi showed fonti up as the clanging non talent he really is on their show.

One point I would like to make though:

I see you are saying they are playing Todd? I have been listening to the Dreem Teem on radio for about 5 years now and I have NEVER heard them play a todd edwards tune. If they are starting to play it now they are a disgrace.

They played the Todd's RMX of U Should Of Known in there top 10 when it came out 2yrs back and had him do a mix for there show last yr when he was in the UK .

Also i have heard em play Saved My Life and Restless Soul on there show as well .

Minus to that they have not played too much Todd on there show from what i have heard .

I'm feeling that Ed Case tune that features Skin from Skunk Ananse.

    That's a tune with a fresh sound.

I first heard it on Dreem Teem's Radio One show. Hopefully, more fresh sounding tunes will start to emerge.

    your show, your playlist. simple.

if you wanna get on air and say it represents the real UKG or if you wanna say that it represents the air leaving your mum's ass, then go right ahead.

if the dreem teem's playlist turns you off, turn them off. that's the chance that they take at every show. moreso when they open their mouths and make such a bold policy statement.
if you think their on air playlist represents what they play at the clubs and you don't like it, you probably won't go see them out....again, it's the chance they have to take.

conversely if I promote myself as another dj tit that will play any and every $$$$ record that the uptown forum is biggin up larger than jesus christ's hi-rise condo, then i should expect to have exactly the audience that wants to hear that sort of dj tit!

big up the dreem teem for doing it THEIR WAY. that shows balls.

but personally, i think the chart is $$$$ too. i prefer matt's chart, no question when it comes to what i consider to be Quality Garage.

finally one that agree on my point of view. their charts wouldn't be mine too but that charts are what Dreem Teem stands for. Show is to represent their Teem and not the whole bandwidth of UKG. And I respect them for doing it this way big time. Too many DJs that try to jump on every bandwagon that's passing.

But I'm afraid times of 'Buddy X' are gone - haven't heard any good tune of them since '99.

wow, i'm struggling to think of anything after that era myself.

their mixes to Amar's "Sometimes It Snows in April" and Luck & Neat's "Little Bit of Luck" come to mind, but i think L&N is 98, and Amar 99, right?
