i was jus lookin round tha Drum n Bass arena forum and its full of comments like "im sick of all this plastic MCing and cheap beats" etc... jus like alot of the comments u see here when it comes to garage.
u look at the charts and all u see is $$$$in atomic kitten wiv yet ANOTHER cover gettin to number one.....kylie manogue gets into the charts wiv cheap, commercial house....all of a sudden Danni manogue aint far behind wiv exactly the same thing.....holly valance from neighbours is signed up to mime pre-written pop for the masses of 14 year olds who like all that $$$$.....the same record label has now signed up another teenage ozzy soap star, only this time shes from home and away....those are jus a taster of the amount of smart marketing, money driven, manufactured "artists" out there on the commercial music scene.
so, can u really expect any different from urban music?? wot im tryin to work out is, wots makin urban music so...$$$$?
is it really full of wanna b's hoping for money and fame? i dont think so. i think it comes down to urban music being extremely easy to get into to, u dont even need alot of talent to have ur record pressed and bought.
it also comes down to the band-wagon crew aswell....image has over taken garage, and in an atempt to match garage wiv its 'rude boi' image people have made it too dark.
its like drum n bass, drum n bass is the hardcore urban music, and people have taken it too far wiv tunes like pacman and grimey where its stop being hardcore and jus become...noise...
this is wot i think.....image has overtaken urban music....as the image became more hardcore over the years, more and more wanna b's wanted to join the band wagon crew and bought overly hardcore records that were bad quality and cheap, but not as embarressin to buy as tunes that are more "dance" like and tuneful.
wot do u think is the cause?
