The state of music 2day!!

I'm came to a point in me musical life dat I've relised how $$$$ music is today.. Melodies r in no way as good as back in the motown days.. but.. ok I do love me urban music n alot of it isn't very musicial, if at all, but it has a vibe dat makes up for da lack of soul tho.

I blame pop.. all dis time I was bothered about uk garage goin down hill when dats da least of 'Music's' problem.. I've just finished reading Pete Waterman's autobiography and after reading it I relised something.. If he's so into the music (and not in it for the money like he says) y did he make pop wat it is 2day? He goes on about his love for motown n any good soulful flavas but he played part is killin off the 'Soul' of music. Double standards I guess

Don't get me wrong.. some pop tunes r good n music does need 2 keep goin forward but does really have to soooo dry overal!!

I've been listenin to alot more blues, jazz, soul n funk lately cos music about now just doesn't inspire me enuff to make tunes but now I make at least 2 16bar loops a day (8bar verse, 8bar chorus) dat if I wanted to make a tune out of, I could.. well only if me CPU didn't keep over loadin n da fact dat I can't bounce tracks to audio 2 free up me CPU cos I have 200mb left on me hard drive grr any1 kno where I can pick up a cheap 40 to 80mb hard drive 4 a G4? Or at least a TC Powercore card for £200? wishfully thinkin there but it's worth a try

I'm losin sight of wat I was sayin.. I'm famous for wafflin so get used to it

Any1 agree about music bein less soulful n more about money dan da music?

Stop moaning and write some tuneful music, get it released and maybe it'll catch on. Personally I hate all this Slapbeat bull$$$$. It's just kids who know nothing about music pressing buttons. No-one can play instruments anymore, so how can they make music?

As for writin tuneful music.. I'm workin on it mate.. I just need 2 master a few more scales n chords n I'm off on a ray charles rhodes playin tip I love me rhodes.. I can't have a tune without some rhodes somewhere

Ya right about da instument side of things.. makin music is made easier with home studios like reason n fruity loops but in da end of da day, once they hit da point where they can't go forward usin dem programs, they end up 1 of 3 things:

1) Stick with da home studio programs n never go forward

2) Give up fully
or
3) Get a copy of logic n use reason or fruity along side it

Logic is da best music makin program about and to learn how 2 use it takes nuff time.

What I sayin is dat, unless u kno how to sample like a bad man u ain't gonna last without knowin how 2 play at least 1 instrument if ur gonna last.. yer u can get people in 2 play da instruments but not every1 has da money 2, unlike peeps like dre, irv gotti n warren g etc. but even if u did have da money.. u still need 2 write da melody cos it's ur ideas n only u kno how 2 make them!

It seems all anyone can talk about is how much better it was "back in the day" (I don't know, I was into techno at the time) with the "good grooves" etc etc, but then everyone keeps playing one note bass lines with techy noises over the top with a 17 year old wannabe droning away over the top.

people moan about the state of ukg but its annoying when someone who has talent doesn't use it to do something about it like some wasted producers around and about. (a few friends I know are like that, lazy shíts!).

Yer mate u kno dat.. I've been workin hard over da past yr 2 get to da point I'm at now n now I have a meetin lined up with some1 at LWT about possible music 4 TV work.

I've done stuff in da past which was co produced but I got fed up with da person I was workin with cos he was long in da way he worked (took a yr from startin a tune 2 releasin it) so in da last yr I've made a albums worth n dats just me still learnin. I've started a sound engineering course now.. altho, it's been mostly mixer understandin n routin, not how 2 make ya track sound sweet!

U can't sit about n wait 4 dat record deal, u have 2 get out there, take those knocks n come back stronger.. I have nuff tings n da pipeline right now on top of dat LWT ting n I finally believe in me self music wise enuff 2 to take music 2 da nx level.. just u wait

Might take me while.. then again it might not but da thing is I ain't gonna give up n I've got ideas for tunes dat u just wouldn't believe.. I can't do them tho cos I can't play da guitar or da sax etc. but I have met ppl who do at me course so it's all about timin.. I need a few things 1st but hopefully after da money I make from LWT I'll b able 2 get them (extra hard drive, vocal box, more ram n wat I want da most.. TC Powercore Card
