Default re: Why was 2-STEP Garage in the first place??

Hi...

The title says it all?

People were listening on the pirates for the latest and baddest tunes!

Not for the baddest rude lyric from the resident mc on the mike!!

When you went to a Uk garage rave of yester year you actually saw people smiling, goregous looking girls getting down and practically each week another big tune was making waves on the dance floors...

When ever a big tune was dropped in a rave the place went crazy!!!

Vinyl junkies in these same crowds the very next day then went searching for these tunes in the specialist stores... Many couldn't find them...making the scene even more exciting and exclusive to be in!!

Clubs were set-up on Sundays that catered for this scene so that the real ravers that liked this scene could rave to...

Now the rude boys have moved in for a quick buck, and nearly killed the scene dead..

Can't anyone see this?

Until we get back to "tunes" being the centre of everything instead of image. THen the scene will not even half match when 2-Step Garage really was about in the old days.

Yes the old days....!!! And I'm not afraid to say it...!!

Remember when the "Boy is mine" by the Architecks just sold and sold and sold without hardly any promotion...???

Thats what Uk Garage has to get back to ....
We need melody in to the future of Uk Garage and fast!!

And fast.....

Oh maybe we are too late!!!

I was reading a few posts on here about the state of Pirate Radio..I should have replied under those threads, but I thought start up a new one...

Pirate radio is a great tool. But it is in danger of damaging 2-Step Garage music by allowing an unhealthy balance of Rude boy Mc's to have more say and play then the tune that are being played on th e station!!

It is the "tunes" that at the end of day that people turn their dials to.

Tunes, and good tunes is what people want with regards to a vibrant dance music scene!! - First and formost!!

Image come second...

Trust me on this!!

Thats why Rn'b is really blowing up at the moment....(*Sorry has been for some time!!)

At the moment for Rn'b it a case of tune after tune!!!

lot of good new music emerging in the uk garage scene.

u said it urself the other day - man like Landslide for example.

Break-beat in its various forms is finding its feet, 4/floor is making a huge resurgence, your ragga/jump up tunes are still strong - scenes keep on changing mate, thats how they go forward. Look at dnb, plenty ruff tunes coming through. Nuff gal in the dance - and u remember what dnb/jungle was like when the garage your talking about was strong.

Plenty serious people in this scene that won't let it die or impload. Keep the faith. Bo.

Oh God yes, i really do encourage DJs to do this with certain MCs! (In particular those chatting about violence & gang attitude and disrespecting women- we do NOT want to hear about ur prowess with women and how u bone $$$$$es all the time!)

thats stereotyping and is just as rude. only a DJ could take the piss like that. $$$$ing stupid.

i wouldnt stab a DJ for turning off my mic. but i would slap them.

I wish people went as crazy for dancing and buying the tunes instead of the craze for image...

Until we bring back a hunger for buying tunes, instead of buying into a image the music will never reach its potential.. And it has so much....

You need that buzz on the street every two weeks that it is imperative that you get this tune...Get my drift??

Some people have already here told me to keep the faith...
But we need tunes that really are well made.. Not todays trend!!
