    Newcastle Accept Solano Bid

Newcastle United have accepted a bid for Nolberto Solano from Aston Villa.
Both parties have confirmed that an agreement has been reached regarding the player and that a move is now dependent on Solano.

The popular right-sided midfielder will travel to the Midlands this afternoon to discuss personal terms with the club.

The talented Peruvian winger has become disgruntled with life at St. James' Park this season after several altercations with manager Sir Bobby Robson.

Solano has previously been linked with a move to ambitious Birmingham City, but in now appears a switch to Villa is in the offing.

The wideman has become increasingly frustrated at being substituted in matches and he showed his disdain for his manager’s decisions in Newcastle's recent FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.

Villa boss David O'Leary is currently in the process of rebuilding his squad and would see Solano's signature as a major coup in his attempts to secure European football.

Newcastle fans will be loath to see the departure of the popular winger, but with Robson having sanctioned a deal, the Peruvian's spell on Tyneside looks to be coming to an end

    SIR BOBBY EXPLAINS SOLANO SALE

Sir Bobby Robson has revealed the reason why he has agreed to sell Nolberto Solano to Aston Villa - the emergence of Darren Ambrose.
The Newcastle United manager's decision to off-load the popular Peruvian will anger a section of the St James' Park support, who are probably hoping the club make their own moves in the market before the window slams shut.

However, Robson has hinted he does not need any reinforcements because Ambrose is now worthy of a regular spot, and Lee Bowyer's return to fitness also gives him options in Solano's right flank position.

"We've given Nobby Solano permission to talk to Villa," stated Robson. "It's what he wishes as well, I have to say that, so we've agreed in principle for the transfer of Solano.

"It's always hard and he's been fantastic. They've bought a very good player, an experienced player they need badly.

"Darren Ambrose is ready to play in the first team. We're sorry to lose Nobby but we have other players to play in that position. Bowyer is fit and almost a week away.

"We have other players who can play in that position.

"I'm sorry to see Nobby go. He'll do well. I wish him great luck.

"People say I had a fragile relationship with Bobby but it's completely untrue. I had a sound relationship with Nobby.

"We've bought young Ambrose, one of the finest young players in the country at the time, and he's ready. I see him in training every day and he is for the future.

"We bought Bowyer at the same time. We can also play Kieron Dyer in that position. It's a good deal for both clubs."
