mc guide Theirs more to Mcing than just rhyming words together. All you DJ’s that talk like MC’s should know their place and all MC sound the same. Let me tell you something it is very hard to be an MC, its hard to be different, it hard to stand out, it takes a lot of practice, time (years) and a lot of thought. I have devised a little guide for those who are trying to be an MC
Different MCs
Theirs two types of Mcing and their both as hard as each other. You have the raw underground, radio, lyricist style of Mcing (dizzy rascal, nyke, etc) and then theirs the hosting in a rave type of Mcing (ie creed, DT etc).
Intro
Make sure you have a vision of what you want to portray to the audience. This is important because if you don’t know what you want the audience to think of you when Mcing youll be the equevelant to a chicken running around with it’s head cut off. Example my names “iceman” and I want to portray the image of a super hero. So I’m a comic MC chatting funny story about my ice cream van with platinum alloys, did you see me in Friday etc (that’s just an example yeah), dizzy rascal = a dizzy wired, funny kid who causes trouble
Don’t watch face
Try to sound different and don’t get influenced by other MC’s. if you idolised an MC to much you will start to sound like that MC. You wont notice this but other people will so be careful and be original
Drum and bass easier than garage
Never think that Mcing to drum and bass is the same thing but just faster cos it isn’t. In some respects drum and bass is eaiser to MC to and mcing to garage is fúking hard. Mcing to drum and bass is a whole different system all together
No your tunes
Never try to MC over vocal this will end your career strait away. It is an automatic failer. Although we have a lot of bass to MC over never try to MC over go DJ by dj zonc cos youll get sunk out from the bass (its too loud). Never try to MC over dj narrows G.A.R.A.G.E you wont stand out
Voice
You r voice is the most important thing. Its the first thing you hear when listening to an MC. Some people can edit their voice to some extreme and some cant. Try to sound as clear as possible and only edit you voice to an extreme you can handle (you don’t wanna put on a voice on and find out that you cant shout that voice in a club cos it breaks up and crackles). Don’t even attempt to sing leave that for the RnB massive unless you really do have a good singing voice that can be used (ie mighty mo, 2ton).
Thugness
Your proberly gonna ignore me as usal but if you are trying to make it as an MC I would strongly advise you steer clear of the thuged out image. This should only be attempted my the real boys like gods gift etc. example if you’re a $$$$$ who gets jacked chiefed a lot etc you talking like you’re a hot boy is gonna make things worse attracting more attention to your self and ting allow that field its long. Everyone ones trying to portray the thugged out MC image its old, long, boring come with some thing new man. Example my names “iceman” and I want to portray the image of a super hero. Me portaying the image of a funny MC cracking jokes about rea rea rea is different cos no one in the scene is doing it (kind of like the MM and ludacris rolled into one but obviously to garage).
Never give up (trust your instincts)
Ive been at it for 3 or 4 years and I have experienced mc break down, wanting to commit MC suicide, etc all the bad thoughts. this is juat a tester to see if you really want to be an MC. If you want to make it to the top with viper, ckp, rascl, wiley and who ever you like you will stick with it unless you are really that shít and have no hope what so ever
