But I know many people would - and it's a shame...
i Don't think it really matter if someone is gay or not..its about the music that they write/perform. p.s whats with all this advert $$$$ on this thread.

i think nathjc really hit it on the head with why does it matter.
you listen to an artist for their music not for the sexual preference... its like saying you would research into who designed your clothes and not buy them if they were gay, despite liking the design... seems a bit ridiculous really, or is homophobia still a rampant prejudice in the music industry?
It doesn't matter to me but it seems it does to some people and to certain individuals within music media. You always see so many articles written speculating on the sexuality of artists. Although this still raises publicity the focus is a bit skewed. With so many promising and talented musicians out there who deserve publicity I find it sad that column space is still taken up with this sort of thing.
It really doesn't matter to me, but from a positive perspective it could help them get gigs in certain venues and at certain gay pride type events... it might harm them at others there are some genres which are openly homophobic, but as always it depends on the music, if it is good nobody cares, George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Elton John the list goes on.
Elton John is gay.
Would not care providing the artist themself do not make an issue of it and just stick to the music.
