Fan Funding Labels?

Has anyone here had any experience with fan funding labels, either as an artist or 'investor'? I've been reading good things but have any of them really taken off or launched any successful artists?

I like how you can become involved with the artists and get things like album credits and how they offer artists a bigger cut of their sales. They say investors can make profit too but that seems like you may end up with people investing in bands for the wrong reasons.

Anyone? There seems to be a few fan funding sites that differ in what they offer and how they work. I'm thinking about getting involved so any advice on the various sites available and fan funding in general would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I'm pretty new to the idea too. There are a fair few fan funding sites out there to look through, it doesn't seem as though any of the acts have broken into the mainstream though - not that I've seen anyway.
