do you think UKHH will blow up bigger than UKG?

what do you think will happen to UK Hiphop?

do you think it could blow up bigger than UK Garage has?

Or do you think UKG will have enough scope to go on for as long as hiphop in general has and if it will spread out as far?

Or do you think UKG and UKHH will have a strong bridge connecting the two togehter so they can build off each other?

    hmmmm not quite convinced!
Im just looking at this on a international scale. In the U.S, UKG is personified by Craid David. Oh dear!

    FEW POINTS...

    1) DANIEL BEDDINGFIELD, 187 LOCKDOWN BIG IN THE USA? LMFAO X 100... YEAH IM SURE THE YANKS LOVED "GUNMAN" AND THE EVEN BIGGER FOLLOW UP TUNE "KUNG FU".

    2) UKG HAS STOPPED GROWING. ACTUALLY IT STOPPED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO.

    3) UK HIP HOP IS AS LAUGHABLE AS TOM JONES DOING A COVER OF "21 SECONDS". BASICALLY ITS CRAP.

Well ... being in the U.S. .... I'll have to agree with you mostly. Not much chance of UKG taking off here in a big way, but there is a good underground movement. Unfortunately, it's gone a bit stale this year and I'm not sure it will be able to recover. We do have Bedingfiled in the charts right now, but the opportunity was lost when American majors didn't pick up on MJ Cole and Artful Dodger in the early 2000 years. Sincere, Re-Rewind, the original 7days and Fill Me in, all could have done something in our charts. I think it might be a bit too late now. But really, dance music is not a big industry here in general. Excluding the occasional MAW Madonna/Whitney Houston/Brandy Remixes, the airwaves and pop charts are all boy bands, hiphop and elcetronica vocally $$$$.

As for UK HipHop ... that will *never* get big in America.

If u ask me I reckon UKG and Hip Hop seems to be coming together, bare tunes that come out nowadays seem to have at least 32 bars where it only goes at around 70bpm (I love you, Peace 2 All, U cant stop this $$$$, etc.). And then you got the Hip Hop tunes that seem to be playin at 140bpm (Groundbreaker, Big Pimpin' etc.) Maybe one day all genres of music will come together to form one glorious genre that nobody listens to.

As for UKHH takin over? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

I love it when people that blatantly don't know $$$$ about UKHH start slagging it off. It won't blow up, but that's not to say it's rubbish. MCs such as Chester P, Skinnyman, Rootz Manuva, Jhest & PhiLife Cypher are among some of the most technically accomplished rappers out there, but they will never make hits. They're too immersed in talking about the state of London or clever wordplay to worry about commercial appeal. They know they've got a hardcore underground following and that's all they seem to want. Furthermore, the hip hop production coming outta the UK is also pretty underground (but some of the beats are sick: check 'Jellyfish Kiss', 'Alcoholic Author', 'Life From The Itchy Side' for examples) and underground don't sell! Adam F has got big beats, but only seems interested in working with well established US names. Skitz has the potential to make something charty though, and Fusion hit the spot with 'Groundbreaker'. Blak Twang has been moving to an increasingly commercial sound as well, although this has lost him respect. If anything I can see UK hip hop getting a lot more respect with time, especially now Westwood claims to be supporting it, but apart from the odd crossover track it will remain a largely underground thing...
