Sure, everything in moderation.

Wouldn't exactly want Q-bert on the decks, but a little spicing up of the set is all good.

Daniel, Q-bert is a god, no doubt...but he is the music, you know?

I'd like to hear the song being played more than the scratching

I read the inital post (before I clicked) as from a DJs perspective, so I'll answer as I read it..

I find scratching over garage difficult, when compared to Drum and Bass, or Hip Hop, mostly because the tempo makes my scratching techniques hard to squeeze in. Its probably a talent thing, but I don't ever have the chance to practise to get better, so I stick to styling over beats I know I can ride.

I would disagree. He has the ability to "accompany" the music very well.

Oh, granted, he has the ability - but I've never seen him chose to use it - but then again, I've only ever seen him doing his own stuff, so that may be why - not a mixset...

it's definitely a skill, Danger D.

Check out anything that Blakey or Luca or Stylus have posted in the Audio Patio to hear some good scratching over hiphop/garage/and dnb.

Some of it's also in the Battledome.

i always do a bit of scratching on my sets, i see it as a sign of talent, not many garage Djs do scratch for the simple reason that they cant !

If you can, strust your stuff !

My favourite style of music to scratch to is old skool after I idolised Sy for so many years - its a style I feel is often overlooked when it comes to scratching -
