Bozak Crew in association with Strictly Underground & Relentless presents:

CHECK IT! May 9th 2002

It's the beginning of the summer and the Bozak Crew is going start things off proper! Tonight we truly have the privilege of bringing over a man whose music is bigger than life. Not many know him as Mark Ruff Ryder, but instead, alias names which no one even knows today. Mark has been involved with the UK Rave scene from day one. Producing everything from Acid House-Trance-Jungle-Garage, having a number one hit in each genre, and has been able to keep his identity under wraps, since the beginning. For the first time in NYC, the UK's most beloved underground figure will be gracing the masses with pure underground vibes that will surely be the perfect start to an amazing summer.

Mark Ruff Ryder- Strictly Underground/Relentless-UK
The founding father of the UK Rave scene, and the mastermind behind the Strictly Underground Cooperation. Mark has been involved with the rave scene for over 14 years! Producing under alias names (which are still not known even today) For labels such as Derrick May's Transmat, Relentless, and just about every other dance label you can think of. Presently Mark is considered to be one of the topnotch producers within the UK Garage scene. His name is rarely mentioned within many of the magazines because he refuses to have the attention aimed at him instead of his music. His year old tune "Joy" is still topping the charts along with his new tunes "move your body" and "we do it ruff". And if you didn't know all this, it's because he keeps it truly strictly underground!

Sean B- Freeskool-NYC
Hailing from D.C Sean's musical influences crossed a spectrum form soul to punk. After moving out west in the early 90's he became involved with the burgeoning San Francisco party scene, promoting underground parties and hosting nights at 1015 with residents like Derrick Carter. Years later in New York, soon after Freeskool was started, 2-step started coming on strong. Regular visits to London provided the education needed in the new sound, as well as access to white labels with black magic marker track titles. Sean's interest in a diverse range of music shines in his banging 2-step sets. He has performed internationally at Womb in Tokyo, and Shorditch Electricity Company in London. Locally he consistently rocks loft parties for Madagascar and BlackKatt. He was a founding resident DJ at Hatch at Cheetah, one of the first NYC 2-step parties. Currently he is mixing the Suite 903 CD for Fader Magazine. Look for Freeskool in May at Opaline in the East Village.

Bozak Crew- Honey Beat Recordings-UK
When they're not at Union Street Studios working on the newest sound, or tearing up dance floors across NYC, you can find the Bozak crew playing the latest unreleased X-Box games (promotional, of course) or having quite a large one down at the local pub in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. These young producers have already raised the bar several notches for the UKG sound in NY. Currently the Brooklyn crew is signed to top-notch UK Garage label Honey Beat Recordings. Watch out for their debut release due out in June. With several other labels courting the Bozak sound, these boys are pushing the UK Garage sound forward. Watch out for the boys from the dark side!

MC: Mark Allen of Actual Proof
If you never heard Mark Allen MC then you're in for a big surprise. Mark is a jewel within the NYC UK Garage scene and a staple at the legendary Freeskool loft events. Instead of trying to impersonate the British MC styles, Mark has his own agenda in place. You can check out Mark and his crew "Actual Proof" as they play live gigs in and around Manhattan and Brooklyn.
