Sorry about the lecture but it annoys me when people try preaching when they clearly don't know much about the game.

How can you say Portugal are better than England?

They have 1 star player, Figo, who is inconsistent to say the least and goes missing for big games.

They have a terrible defence, and don't have enough mental strength or team spirit.

Yes techincally they are quite good, but your really coming back with some poor answers that doesn't really make me wonder whether you have a good point.

Try something better than 'we couldnt string 3 passes together'

England and Sweden was a fair result. We dominated midfield in the first half and Sweden lacked cohesion, determination or a desire to win. However the second half was vice versa. It really was a game of two halves.

Sweden are very similar to England but i'd say like for like our squad is better due to proven quailty players we have. They don't have the strength in depth.

Argentina are serious underachievers and thats why i'd never put my money on them in the big games. They nearly always flop when the pressure is on.

It's not just technical ability a team needs, it also needs mental strength so as not to disintegrate when things don't go your way, and also a team spirit.

France had all of these in 98, Italy also have this, and so did Germany and Brazil.

The best teams usually enjoy all of these attributes and that's why i'd say England are in the top 8 in the world.

Top 8.

1. Italy (the best all round team in the world, tight defence, good tactical players, strength and flair, midfield could be a bit stronger)

2. Brazil (had a $$$$ 2 years, but still go with the attitude 'we'll always score more than you' and it works. World class throughout the team and emphasis on attack)

3. France (Ageing defence, big weakpoint, but midfield and attack oozes class, slow start but can only get better)

4. Spain (Europes biggest underachievers, world class throughout the team, could well be their year, my bet for the world cup)

5. Argentina (Arguably boasts the best technical players in the world, but their inconsistency on the big occasions can let them down)

6. Holland (disgrace that they didn't qualify, strong team, experience, but many ageing players)

7. England ( has many young talented players, but can be Jekyll and Hyde, has a good mixture of strength and skill, can only get better in the nxt few years)

8. Sweden (come into their own in the last 2 years, strong work ethic, hard to breakdown, some talented individuals to accompany that)

Come back with some thought out points on where you either agree or disagree with me.

As soon as we can get some consistancy in qualifying for big tournaments and winning them as well .

i agree with everything you say except the point your trying to say that sweden are in the top eight great teams, because shouldnt be they have some good players but they havent got a good team! england should of beat them but they had an off day so they underachieved.

id say teams such as; rep ireland, portugal, and germany are better than sweden.

LOL at England being better than Portugal.

Anyone that thinks they have only got 2 players don't know nothing about Football.

They have 3 world class players in Figo, Rui Costa, and Concicou. The rest of the team is full of technically gifted players.

England have 2. Beckham and Scholes and even Beckham has a lot to prove. Beckham doesnt take games by the scruff of the neck and control them.
The rest of the team are runners!!!

And no Owen is not world class. Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Larsson, Vieri, Hasselbaink, Raul are world class.
Owen is not on these players level. Yes has pace but what else can he do better than the above?

If England are so much better than Sweden why is it everytime England play them they never win.

England don't do better in major tournaments than Sweden either

Sinclair will be a world class played after another 2 games.

Owen is a player every club manager in the world would buy if they had the chance.

Ferdinand is one of the best defenders in the entire World Cup.

We have a World Class goalkeeper.

Sinclair is alright but not international class.

No player is world class if they cant kick with there weaker foot.

Rio is good but Alan Hansen goes overboard. Anyone that saw him for Leeds last season would of seen many faults.

Many time his in the wrong position.
V Argentina Rio and Campbell were not really tested as Batistuta was up front on his own and everything was played in front of them

Nesta is a lot better!!!

Owen is good in the premiership. I doubt he would score half in Italy and wouldn't be so affective in Spain.
If Liverpool got offered £40m then they should sell as he isn't worth that.

His first touch is poor!!!

That England are a good side that will continue to improve in due tyme (Consistancy is what they need - that's all) .
