Dennis Bergkamp will quit football at the end of the season unless Arsenal offer him a new deal.
The 34-year-old wants to extend his stay at Highbury for another term before bringing down the curtain on his illustrious career.
The former Holland international signed a one-year extension last season and wants to do similar this time round without leaving it as late in the day.
Arsenal did not offer the former Ajax star his previous deal until after the season's end when he eventually inked the deal in July, and says he has no plans to play for any other club.
The former Internazionale star told the News of the World: "I want one more year at Arsenal – it's my final ambition.
"I will sign for one more year if they want me. I do not wish to play for any other club."
Bergkamp's agent Rob Jansen has urged the in-form Gunners not to repeat their stalling tactics of last season, saying his client will call it a day if no new deal is in the offing.
"If Dennis does not sign a new contract with Arsenal, he will retire," said Jansen
