Default some feedback wanted on my playlist for new mix CD

Hey all,

just wanted to get some feedback re: a proposed set I was going to mix as my "summer sampler" and freebie give away to try to promote myself/2step garage...

I'm trying to keep it upfront and different, so that people will be hearing fresh stuff (or old stuff that wasn't too huge or really old stuff that was to bring back memories), but was wondering if I should dust some more "anthems" in there - I just don't want to have the booo/justincase/gottagetthroughthis type mix, where it's all the popular songs...ok, I did put in Usher...

anyway, it's a mix of 4/4, 2step rnb/soulful vocals, and a smidge of breakbeat/bassline/MC tracks.

1 todd edwards - perfect love
2 tjr ft xavier - just gets better
3 tuffjam - need good love original
4 saturn beatz ft. satin - say what you say 4/4 vocal
5 jump st - little things dj luck rmx
6 usher - u got it bad soulshock club rmx
7 artful dodger ft. lifford - please don't turn me on wideboys rmx
8 macy grey - sweet baby 8 jam rmx
9 lucy pearl - don't mess with my man wookie main mix
10 beverly knight - shoulda coulda woulda DnD 4/4 mix
11 ladies first - kiss the sunshine vs. sunship
12 dub syndicate - don't stop prestige vocal mix
13 sovereign ft. specialist moss - rose in my garden red rose mix
14 innocence crew ft. alex charles - beautiful original mix
15 dc ft. kirwin - my body zoom + dbx club mix
16 jj louis and jade lion ft banton - ruff tuff n ready original mix
17 round sound pres. onyx stone and mc malibu - wadda we like? raw mix
18 soulo and steve feelgood ft. angel blue - true 4/4 mix
19 kwarren ft. lee-o - coming home hackney soldiers rmx
20 sounds of da future - menta
21 reach & spin - hyper! hype the funk stanton warriors rmx

I'm missing something by ed case, mj cole, sticky, dubaholics, bump and flex if you're counting bigger remixers/producers that aren't on the list.

anyway, comments on the selection would be appreciated

Hey mistic, yeah I know there's no PAUG or SoSolid or any of that stuff. Fact is, I don't rate that stuff tons and tons. I don't play lots of MC/bassline/Breakbeat tracks, though I find them easier to mix and fun in their own way. I may see about putting some in more MC tracks.

Narrows I like, but not in the mix, odd as that sounds. Well, not in what I mix (which, as you can tell, is mainly vocal and oldskool; 4/4 aside, it'll always be soulful melodic stuff. Narrows just isn't that from what I've heard)

thanks for your comments. I may add some variety to show the full breadth of the scene. But, conversely, I may keep it more vocal oriented as that's my strength, that's what I like, and that's the Garage I'd like to promote in North America. Dunno yet

I sadly don't have that

There's a bunch of songs I like that I don't own that I would love to put on a mix cd...o well...after my trip to the UK, I'll have to make another one.

Yes, I had Restless Souls in there...maybe I'll use the Todd mix of Crazy Love or something to do double duty and try to get MJ Cole in the mix

As for long time coming, I do have that somewhere...will see if it fits

Cheers!

A lot of vocal tunes which always is nice.
Put in Wookie - battle and it will be complete.

Nice work.

Nice mix up Sen, sounds heavy.

And as for Misticad, did you actually look at that selection before making those suggestions? DO you know any of those tunes are or where they not on the wall of your local "rudeboy riddim rinseout" emporium?

If anything try and slip a bit more Wookie in or the MJ tune with Guy Simone, quality.
