Default JUST A LITTLE REMIX (3/4 done)!!! Need Feedback!!!

Okay...

3/4ths done with this mix, done with the verse, chorus, and break, still need an outro and will probably change the intro a bit.
Will probably polish it up with some FX and strings but so far this'll be my final arrangement for this mix. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening.

Very, very nice. As me an sen been using for reference in his thread...THIS one is worth the overseas postage. All the elements of a blown up garage single are here: Tasty-ass keys, melodic bassline, guitar-ish arpeggiations (though in this case, clav), and of course slick drum programming. I think this came together beautifully, but you probably already KNEW that!

Things I would never let you change if I had a shotgun and was sitting behind you:
The keys.
The bridge.
The sound of the vocal. Nice and clean for drastic timestretching.

Things I would suggest you think if it was MY money for the postage:
For a "vocal single" mix the intro is fairly long. 1:28 by my count. So about 30% of the tune is intro... some people might
The "swing" on some of the 16th note kick beats seems to not quite roll right. I don't know what direction to nudge them....but I think they could lock in tighter.
Until the bass kicks in, it seems a little hi-pass filtered in the mix. Like everything is just cut under certain frequencies. It gives it a nice tight feel, but at times is maybe too much.

I'm only nitpicking because I think so highly of this mix. As I said, great work. This is definitely a contender against ANYTHING I've heard, including my own mix - which I'd post but I'm having webspace issues.

HUGE and and  all around for any :dj: who spins this.

Thank you for your comments!!! Took your advice and shortened the intro quite a bit and I feel it's much better now! You were right, much too long, thanks for the suggestions. The keyboard arrangement will not change but was thinking of changing the patch (too bright once I heard it in the car). A rhodes patch with a darker sound will probably blend better I think. I also quantized the kick roll a little and it seems much tighter. Haven't really mixed and eq'd this yet, will hopefully do that tomorrow. Got a couple of days left to burn this and send it b4 the 28th. Again, thanks for your suggestions!!!

sweeeeeet.

that's all I have to say.

ok, there's more.

The intro was long, but great use of the vocals...take out 8 bars and you're set
.
the first vocal section, without instrumentation, is the $$$$ tho...thank god it was such a nice (if not stereo) acapella - no bleeds let us do $$$$ like that.

Drums are well mellow, but totally suit the mix. The bline too - has a nice upright feel to it, if not sound (hey, try it with an ABass and see how it sounds...may have that jazz sound to it

Anyway, hopefully they don't listen to my mix right after yours...that would be a tough act to follow!

big up my NA Breds man, we're doin' this thing some damage
