Dig the bassline and the vocal. Whatever it is at the beginning needs cleaning up....sounds like a midi file, and while I realize it probably is one, it shouldn't sound like one when coming out of speakers. Tad on the slow side also.

Other than that sounding good.

It ain't a midi file. I never use samples or midi files, except maybe one-shots, hits etc. I accept that it might sound a little static, but I'm not a pianist, so most of the melodies I write for my garage tracks aren't played brilliantly. I just quantize them to a basic 16th setting to compensate for my bad keyboard skills. It's slow because the original track was at 50bpm. The software I use for pitch-shifting is only capable of doing a 30% alteration (up or down) so the best I could get was 65 to fit a 130bpm instrumental. It's a rough demo, its not mixed or mastered, just a quick idea.

Probably Brickhouse meant that the guitar patch in the intro sounded too GM for him. Try a different acoustic guitar patch and see if it works. Other than that, sounded pretty good to me. Nice chords!

This reminds me of just in case - its right on that sorta level. Feeling them chords - suit the vocal well. The bline is again like just in case - maybe you could filter it a bit in places though. Vocal is wicked.

Only thing I don't like about the track is the snare

Funny you should say that. The Weekend remix was done about 6 - 8 months ago but IQ used it as the basis of his Just in Case

As for the guitar I am pretty sure it was a patch on the Proteus 2000.

The guitar was a EXS24 instrument in Logic.
