Just starting on the composition, still testing out vocals and bass progressions ... what do y'all think of the beats?

the beat work is damn intricate and v. v. nice!

Kinda a headstomp thing going on...

I don't know if I like the "can you feel it" - I suppose I was hoping for something more 80's rave stylee than Chemical bros feel.

The bline is really nice...very subtle.

Yeah ... having listened to it again I think I'm gonna nix the vocals. The sample sounded better to me in isolation than it actually does in the track.

I just went to the P.O. box and grabbed your CD today...big big up!!! I've only had a chance to listen through once while writing up a few budgets for some possible recording/mixing clients, so it didn't have my FULL attention - will get to that soon.

I was suprised how dubby it was. For some reason, my impression was that your stuff was more hectic. I reeeeeaaally felt your girlstown dub. That was nice.

Now onto this track - My first observation is that with those drum sounds, you're going to have to be careful not to eventually layer too many things on top, as the snares will get BURIED. As bare as it is now, they sound good, but I thought I'd give you a little early warning.

The way the drums are cut up is absolutely brilliant. I never have the balls to make anything this unique sounding - but love hearing it in other people's stuff.

It was also more breakbeat-y and heavy than I expected. Not a bad thing at all. The upbeat hat sample your using does not totally mesh with the rest of the drums. That needs to be fixed. Also not crazy about the bass sound. A little too plain and everyday for me.

On the whole, my opinions are:

the main drum pattern is outstanding, the bass notes are good, the sound of the hat needs to be better integrated, and the bass patch should be changed or manipulate the one you got.

Wow ... thanks BB ... now that's how all criticism should be delivered, complete and with usable suggestions! I'll be back working on the track during the afternoon lull here at work and will try out your suggestions. I alread took care of the vocals that Sen pointed out ... they're outta there. Back to the basics.

personally I think there's too many of them conga/apache type drums in the beat - I prefer beats filled with hats, tambs and shakers.

Sounds to me like it needs something more over the top - more vocals or something. Pretty good so far though

Changed up the bass tones a bit, took out some hats and lowered others, lowered the vocals (but still couldn't get myself to cut them entirely), added the synth on top, and laid out the rest of the structure. More atmospherics to come tomorrow... give it another listen if you can. I'm adding a windows media player version too.

Is the breakdown at the 3min mark too offtime?

O.k. ... nearly done now. Added the atmospherics and FX, tweaked the breakdown and bass some more. Anyone care to give a final listen .......
